The spider-sense changes with each new writer, but there was a ASM issue in the 1980s (?) where Peter was changing in a supply closet, his spider sense went off, someone opened the door, saw him, took a picture, and ran away (it’s the issue with a photo of a real actor playing Peter unmasked). So there is precedent for the spider-sense warning Peter of anyone seeing him if he is unmasking.
Oh wait, this panel is from the 1970s. I supposed *that* would be the precedent for the story I mentioned above.
@hornacek — I suppose Peter’s spider-sense would alert him if it was unsafe to take off his mask. Well, it should. Maybe. One would hope.
“How can I guard my secret identity?”
Step 1: Don’t unmask when you’re sticking to the side of a building where anyone can see you.
