The human looking teeth in the third panel are intentional. He has full on fangs and tongue until he picks up the little girl, the clown maces him, then the fangs come back when he punches the clown, then the normal teeth come back when he’s dealing with the little girl.
@William – Erik Larsen has admitted that he was the one that created the elongated tongue for Venom. He says it was a mistake – he was trying to draw him exactly as McFarlane did and he thought McFarlane drew him with that tongue. By the time he realized the mistake there had been enough appearances with the tongue and they just kept it going.
His human teeth in the last panel remind me of his first appearance before the artists decided to give him the tongue and fangs. I think I prefer the human teeth personally, they’re *way* creepier to me, probably because of the uncanny valley effect.
@hornacek — I was wondering the same thing. Honestly, I think the clown is a bit scarier than Venom.
@hornacek: It’s gotta be the latter.
Those teeth in the third panel look … normal. Is that an art mistake, or is Venom deliberately making his smile look human so as to not scare the children?
