This Thursday I’ll be recording an interview with writers Roger Stern and Tom DeFalco. The two are going to talk about working with Steve Ditko back in the 1980s. I’ll take questions for the two writers on our message board. I’ve started a thread here. Be sure to get your questions in before 7pm central. I just want to sit and watch these two gentlemen talk about Spider-Man and Steve Ditko.
I very much enjoy the work of both men, but dince thid is to be Ditko-focused:
How much plotting input did Ditko have on Machine Man? Speedball? Rom?
Where he did contribute to the plotting, how did that work? Collaborative with scripter or editor, written plot, just artwork or domething else?
Was Ditko doing pencils only in later years his choice, or an editorial decision?
Did Ditko voice an opinion about his later non-Spider-man stories being placed in Spider-man annuals? Whose idea was that? It was a touch I appreciated.
Any insight as to why he was OK returning to the Creeper, although one stated reason for not doing more Spider-man was his desire not to compete with his older work?
Did Ditko voice any opinions about the various inkers/finishers he was paired with in the latter days? Writer/scripters?
Did Ditko voice any opinions about Spider-man artists or writers that followed? I am especislly interested in whether he talked about John Romita or Ron Frenz.
Regarding their opinions of Ditko’s work, I am interested in whst stories (Spider-man or otherwise) most resonated with them and what other Ditko work they would recommend. Did either follow his recent kickstarter ptojects?
What are both writers favourite Ditko works? Did they have any memorable personal interactions with Ditko? How did they feel about Ditko’s moral outlook and his approach to work for hire jobs?

Please ask Roger Stern how he and Bob Layton at CPL were able to publish the previously unpublished Blue Beetle and Captain Atom stories by Ditko in their Charlton Bullseye ‘zine, whether Ditko had an input or interactions with them on the project, and whether they heard anything from him after?
