This is bad. Real Bad. They may actually succeed with this movie.
And if they do, you thought you were sick of Venom in the comics before….
The thing that gets me is, we’ve had over 6 Alien movies that get the look of this down better than here (and arguably Venom’s design aesthetic was informed by the HR Giger’s Alien concepts), and Venom still looks like a plastic-molded Halloween costume in these trailers.
I’ve heard the budget for this is 40 million. I’m not saying that a good action / comic movie can’t be made for that, but I don’t think Sony has the goods to do it.
Even though I love the character, I’m just not convinced the premise can translate to a solo movie. The last time I said that, we got Green Lantern.
I take minor umbrage at the tag line. I don’t think the world has enough heroes. That aside, I had a hard time understanding what was said and don’t care for Hardy’s Brock voice. It doesn’t look awful like the first trailer, but I am nowhere near excited for this.
Well… I admit I was sad when I found out that Venom and other Spider-Man related characters would have their own universe. I mean, that’s most of Spidey’s rogues gallery out the window!
But yes, this latest trailer does look good, I just hope they haven’t revealed their best moments already. That scene of the villanous symbiote tearing Venom off Eddie was intense.
