A new Facebook group called “Steve Ditko Letters” has been launched. Members are sharing the various letters they have received back from Ditko over the years. If you’re a fan of Spider-Man’s co-creator it’s a fascinating read. Ditko replied to so many people over the years. The common thread I’m seeing is that he doesn’t focus on the past. He often cites that working on Spider-Man happened 50 years ago. He was always working towards the next project and not looking back into the past. My favorite letter is the one he sent to Roy Thomas which included a Spidey illustration. If you’re interested in joining the group, click here.

I am a Spider-Man completist and have every comic, appearance, mini-comic giveaway, promotion, marx toy, and hundreds of unique items. My collection runs from 1962-2002. All my comics are high grade including AF 15 and ASM 1-100. I built a room with a dehumidifier for my 15,000 plus items. I have tons of neat stuff, Including Ditko and Romita Sr. and John Buscema original ASM art. I also own a framed Ditko letter with the envelope (why I’m writing and just reached out to Ken Landgraf who wrote it 45 years ago. He is an illustrator in NYC (I grew up in Sunnyside Queens) . Robert Bell was my first comic shop. I gravitated to Spiderman when I was 11 in 1969 and never stopped collection. We were from Queens, nerds, had parental problems. He resonated. Still does. Any never knew you existed (and were so successful) till just now! Here is me: stevelevinelaw.com
