Marvel has released the the final image and it shows a green-eyed baby. Gotta be an Osborn, what do you think?

There is one thing I have to say though: The Amazing Spider-Man “Dark Reign- The List” is a fantastic read; eye-popping poster-esque art, great script, really cool story, and the fact that the evil, deceiving Norman Osborn has taken over the world to where Peter Parker/Spider-Man has to stand up to him and figure out ways from now on to take him down is an intriguing storyline. It represents politics to a certain extent. But I will never read “One More Day” and “Brand New Day” period for as long as I live.
Look, people, Spider-man comics don’t have stories anymore. That is, they are not intended to go anywhere. After that legendary ressurection story that didn’t make any sense people were promised new powers. Then we were promised stories about his new powers. Then a new costume. Then a new job. These are concepts, not stories. Then Civil War happened. Then Spider-man’s identity is revealed to the world. Now, this is the point where the ‘biggest story of Spider-man’s existence’ would normally be. After that we’re promised stuff after stuff. There was never intended to be real stories here, it’s just keep stuff going and the EIC wants the marraige gone. What great thing has happened since they destroyed Peter Parker’s character by having make a pact with Mephisto? It’s three times a month of nothing happening. The EIC is still the same and having all these talented writers doesn’t make sense because their mandate is no doubt ‘nothing happens’.
We’ve been here before. They keep promising readers ‘we’re going to resolve these things’ They aren’t going to resolve these things the just wiped out all those big promises I mentioned. It’s an awful, awful book. I don’t think that the editorialship really wants to do anything with SPider-man else he would remained in the main books with Iron Man and Cap and yes, Aunt May died in 400 they should kill her again. WHy the hell is Norman Osborn a big villian, yet Spider-man isn’t the main good guy in those Seige books?
One thing I want to mention though, even though I’m completely against One More Day and Brand New Day is that: probably one of the main reasons the story arcs “One More Day” and “Brand New Day” were created because- think about how many stories have been written since September 1962 “Amazing Fantasy #15”; there have been so many different story concepts that the writers have almost nothing to draw from and it’s difficult to come up with new ideas. I could see one day that eventually all of Spidey’s different comicbook series would end OR the simple concepts of the characters and their stories would be kept but we would see them evolve into either cooler or almost completely different creations for new generations of new readers and new fans. Everyone will see what happens when that day comes, IF it does. Hopefully though, they will all stay the same characters they have always been but with new, better, and never-thought-of stories.
It looks to me that very hopefully, possibly Mary Jane Watson and Peter Parker will get married again Officially at the end of Brand New Day OR as some of you are saying there will just be a bad story undermining their first, original, classic wedding. BUT, you never know, maybe Marvel Entertainment with the hopefully positive influence of the Disney merger and the constant justifying complaints of the true long-time Mary Jane Watson and Peter Parker/Spider-Man fans including the marriage have convinced Marvel that Joe Quesada’s bad decision for One More Day mainly and secondly the new direction of Brand New Day has turned many or most of us fans away, SO Marvel, Joe, and his ASM team have decided to undo their mistakes. And yes, Mr. & Mrs. Spider-Man, Spider-Girl, and The retelling of the Clone Saga including Venom: “Dark Origin” have shown the original characters in their marriage, the original continuity, and a time & different universe where Pete and MJ would never make a deal with Satan. I agree that Joe Quesada and his ASM team At Least have enough respect to cherish, value, and hold onto all of that on the side of BND for the fans’ sake. But, still, I don’t care if the Pete and MJ in OMD/BND in their minds should be different from their counterparts from the Original Continuity, it’s still wrong period! Peter Parker and MJ are the same characters from Day One and should be, besides them growing up in their lives. The Lizard is one of the coolest villains and I’m glad that he will be in the Spidey comics of 2010; Marvel and Joe Quesada/ASM team probably did this because they think that the Spider-Man 4 sequel will not include the character, so their making up for that. The other heroes: Scarlet Spider, Arana, Spider-Woman are some great additions and team-ups for this new year. The Green Goblin baby, if that’s what it is, may be interesting.
To anyone who thinks this means the marriage will return, I’ll remind you of the wedding invitations for a Parker/ _son wedding. And we remember how that turned out now don’t we?
Berserkfury, I was thinking the same thing… LOL!
Trying to assure us the marriage will be back/hasn’t left, calling 616 a garbage continuity, going on about Spider-Girl being the true continuity…
Danish sounds a lot like a certain Scotsman…
Danish… if the marriage was “still there…” they would be MARRIED. Not running around with the likes of Carlie Cooper, Bobby Carr, ‘Psycho” Gonzales, ETC.
And I accepted that Spidey’s story was over ever since OMD. This CRAP you’re being spoonfed… I refuse to accept it as the Spidey I know.
And the fact that you’re calling 616 continuity garbage… remember what we had to DEAL WITH in order to get to this point in YOUR S*** continuity? I’ll give you a hint… actually, I already gave you the answer… or at least the 3 letter abbreviation.
Is it just me or does Danish Web seem familiar somehow…
Oh God please let this be an undoing of the One More Day drivel. I do really really wanna see Peter and MJ together again
but Spider-Girl isn’t Peter’s story, it’s May’s. She’s the main character.
I cried a little bit…this is the nail in the Spider-Marriage coffin!
It looks like there is a dart stuck in Pete’s side (not one of the puzzle lines)…
Miles_Warren is absolutely correct.
I refer people to Miles Warren’s post up at #10 because it’s filled-to-the brim with truth.
Hmmm, what I see is Doc Ock opens a daycare center, the Juggernaut and Spider-man during naptime, Carlie and Peter mashing, the Lizard with bad breath, She Kraven angry that Paper Doll killed Spidey before she could and the main story of “what really happened” on their wedding day. In other words, my walkabout continues…
So let’s see, even though I’m “100% wrong” in my predictions, I’m going to take a shot: that baby is the son of Norman Osborn and Lily Hollister and Doc Ock kidnaps it in order to download his own consciousness and memories into the child, thus giving him a new body that, thanks to the Goblin formula coursing though the baby’s veins from both parents–would be physically superior not just to his old body but also the average human once the kid reaches maturity. Which, if the Stacy twins were anything to go by, won’t take very long.
And also, Peter and MJ reaching out to each other is definitely hints the “follow-up” to One More Day, and not just revealing what “really happened” on their wedding day, but also (hopefully) that Peter will remember the Mephisto deal and realize he and MJ are supposed to be married.
Danish Web: That… like the inclusion of Spider-girl, whom I seem to recall, was canceled and then thrown in there…… is only in the Mr. and Mrs. Spider-Man book because they can’t sell it any other way.
“I hope there’s a lesson to be learned when it DOES come back under the same creative team”
And I hope the creative team is the one to learn it…
“Continuity is important… and no one buys the “magic” excuse”
Miles Warren: Quesada has continued to publish a married Peter and MJ for more than three years in titles like “Mr and Mrs Spider-Man”, Spider-Girl, and The Clone Saga. That may be A.Us, but they still stand as an indication he still cares about it and doesnt let it out of his sight. The marraige still has a life despite BND, so the chances of it being restored to 616 are pretty high. Why do you continue to beleive this is no better than Marvel lying about other status quoes that they have PROVEN to have lied about? What DIFFERENCE?
For example, Bendis claimed Ultimate Spider-Man will have a new Spidey…it turns out to be the same Peter we always knew having a relationship hiccup with MJ that they’ve all but patched up in record time
Remember also what Stan Lee said in a Newsarama interview “the marraige will be back one day, who knows, for all we know, they’ve already brought it back”…and if anyone would know, HE would, since he was the one who wrote the aftermath for OMD before retconning BND himself in the dailes.
Spider-Man fans SHOULD be smarter than this, instead there being prepostrously fickle and swallowing Marvel’s line about the marraige not coming back, refusing to look at the big picture because there too obsessed with the marraige being in 616 and not counting anything else that prove Marvel still care about it’s significence and the fans that support it. I hope there’s a lesson to be learned when it DOES come back under the same creative team
Hmm…Araña, the Scarlet Spider (I assume the last remaining MVP clone?), Madame Web, and…who’s in the black suit – surely not Gargan?
I see the Juggernaut (bottom left, near Mary Jane)….
Where’s the image of Peter walking out of a shower, so we find out the past year (and not the 10 years before it) was all a dream.
I knew some people would think this image was a reunifcation of Pete/MJ the moment I saw it. C’MON guys the marriage isn’t coming back. Its obviously a teaser about “what really happened on the wedding day”…y’know that story that the braintrust has been telling us was coming for years now. How can some of you forget that? This isn’t Marvel relenting to us in any way.
That better be Baby May.
He hasn’t done ANYTHING yet! This is just a teaser image!
Joey Q is not the dumbass i thought he was. I think he did it to avoid getting lynched. But whats up with Arana,Madam Web, Black Suited Spider-Man and The Iron Spider?
This will go down as the first big bait and switch of 2010. I’m not getting my hopes up… AT ALL.
Of course, if they DO bring back the continuity…
A complete stretch… but is there even the slimmest possibility that’s some incarnation of Baby May? Admit the thought crossed your mind.
This picture makes me very happy. I really hope the Marvel upper heads are hubly addmintting their mistakes and are gonna give us a wholesome, reasonable fix to the OMD/BND thing.
Remember the scene in Wayne’s World 2 where Wayne tried to break up Cassandra’s wedding? For some reason that’s the first thing I thought of here.
Doc Ock’s tentacles and a baby? 😮
Mayyybe…Those are clearly Ock’s tentacles creepliy around it.
Still whacked out from seeing that Peter and MJ are w/in reach of each other.
