Now we’re getting to what I feel is the good stuff! Prowler is a figure I’ve wanted in the Marvel Legends line for years! I can’t believe it took him this long to get a figure again. The last figure I recall Hobie Brown getting was way back in the 90’s when ToyBiz was still producing 5” called figures, so this is a much, much needed update.
Prowler’s in his classic costume, which this figure captures perfectly. His paint is very well done on my figure. I love the color of purple they used; it’s very dark, which I feel is very fitting for a character who’s spending his nights scaling buildings and jumping across rooftops. The yellow is bright and vibrant, which may go against the subtlety of the purple, but it’s very accurate for the character. I also like the shade of green on him, too; it’s perfect.
His sculpt is excellent! He reuses the body first introduced with the Spider-UK figure from the 2017 Sandman Build-A-Figure Series, so there’s some nicely sculpted wrinkles throughout which I find very fitting for Prowler. His head sculpt is flawless! It looks really, really cool. His cape isn’t bad; not the best, but not bad either. He has excellent new hand sculpts, which look perfect for climbing buildings. While his glove and boot cuff overlays are nicely sculpted, they do tend to move about loosely. The boot cuffs can be raised high enough on the leg over the calf to be tight enough to resist falling, but it’s not fool proof; should you extensively pose him about, chances are that they will most likely fall again. With that said, the cuffs are the weakest part of what is otherwise a very strong figure. One thing also worth mentioning: Prowler has worn Spidey’s costume for him on several occasions. So it’s definitely odd to see him on a body bigger than most of Hasbro’s other Spider-Man offerings.
His only accessory is the Lizard’s right leg if you don’t count his cape. I feel that an unmasked head or alternate fisted hands would have went a long way to making Prowler even better, but it’s not a deal breaker by any means. The only other thing I can think of that they could have made for Prowler would have been a way to make it look like his glove was firing a gas pellet or something similar.
Prowler has some great articulation! He has 32 points of articulation, including a ball-jointed head, hinged neck, shoulder swivels and hinges, bicep swivels, double jointed elbows, wrist swivels and hinges, ab crunch, waist swivel, hip rotation, thigh swivels, double jointed knees (which are slightly hindered by the sculpted wrinkles behind the knees), boot swivels, ankle pivots, and ankle hinges. You can really get this guy into some cool and creepy poses.
The wait was well worth it for Prowler. I’m very glad to finally have him to count among Spidey’s allies after all these years. And while I had a few minor nitpicks with him, he’s still a great figure, and one you shouldn’t hesitate to pick up. You can pick up Prowler at most brick and mortar retail stores like Walgreens or Target, or from online stores such as Amazon or Dorkside Toys, which is where I got mine from.
