The proposal in that What If? just seems to come of out nowhere. In regular continuity there was never any hint of a romance between the two characters, maybe some harmless flirting but nothing beyond that. Wasn’t SS always portrayed as older than Peter? Or was that how she was introduced and then de-aged over time?
At least in that What If? it kinda acknowledges how out of left field it is, as the story skips ahead a few months and the caption says the two characters got closer over time..
Peter looks terrifying
One of my favourite What Ifs, because at the end he begins dating and proposes to Silver Sable. Who on my list of love interests ranks second, above Black Cat (sorry Ashley, you know I still care for Felicia) and Mary Jane first of course.
But in an AU, I would support Peter and Sable getting together 100%.
