When a thug grabs a diamond ring call “The Canary” and suggests to pawn in off for some money, her boss, Felicia Hardy grabs the ring and knee’s him in his “webshooter”. This ring has sentimental value to her and she will not sell it and she remembers a flashback on why it holds such sentimental value to her.
Okay, I might be new here editorial reviewer to the crawlspace, but I know my Spider-Man history and characterization. Even to the supporting characters. Let’s be honest, his story is too heart warming and fits in with both characters history despite what they are going through in recent events. This Story deserves it’s own grade.
Zdarsky wins with this one. Don’t let the above image fool you, this isn’t a proposal as it shows, just Felicia playing the usual loving cat and mouse game with Peter. She proposed to distract his spider sense in order to escape after a sweep attack to his legs.
Everything is written correctly with this one and both of these characters are at their best during this time. It’s a short heartwarming tale that no matter how “criminal” Felicia has become, she still holds onto the past and great memories she had with Peter and cherishes them, which brings hope to this character. She loves Peter and she cherishes what they used to have. Goran Parlov art is great and Giada Marchisio coloring isn’t bad either. Despite being in issue #300 of Spect, this tale almost makes it worth the price..almost.
I know a Black Cat Cosplayer and our very own Crawlspacer Ashley. It’s my responsibility to give this it’s own grade and show true respect for the character.
A throwaway nothing story that brought more true characterization to the Black Cat than the main satellite title could ever do. I know it’s sad.
5 stars for this throwaway nothing story? Lol okay….
Mary Jane loved him too. In fact, they were married once, and look what Marvel did to that.
Nice try…
Ashley loves this. Anyone surprised?
Context aside, that image nearly has me tearing up!! Get him with your nontraditional self, Felicia
Love the review
and thank for reviewing it seperately
I was soo happy that she kept the ring at the end, I was worried that she was going to fence it along with the others, but to know that she didn’t and that it’s connected to when “proposed” to Spider-Man, which I’d like to think she was semi-serious about, even if it was a distraction. Make my heart feel all warm and fuzzy to know the even through everything she still has feelings him. and now that she’s no longer a crime boss and apparently turning over a new leaf, hopefully we’ll get to see her interact more with Spider-Man in the near future and see the relationship between them repaired.
Now all that’s left is for Mary Jane to leave Iron Man and rekindle her relationship with Peter.
