Variety is reporting that Sony is developing a Moribus the Living Vampire movie. It’s hired Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama to write a script. The two have a few movies that include “Gods of Egypt,” “Dracula Untold” and “The Last Witch Hunter.” The most recent “Power Rangers” movie is probably the most successful. What are your thoughts on the movie? Does it need to have Spider-Man in it?

Of course, any article about Morbius must include this: http://www.4thletter.net/whatif/morbiussharks.jpg
“He goes out like a bitch Kevin!”
Gods of Egypt is incredibly bad, even without acknowledging the white actors playing Egyptian characters. I only saw it because a podcast I listen to reviewed it – I’ll never get those 2 hours back.
a) No one outside of hardcore Spidey fans knows or cares about Morbius. This isn’t Venom we’re talking about, who actually has a fan-base independent of Spidey. About 5 people give a crap about Morbius.
b) “Gods of Egypt,” “Dracula Untold” and “The Last Witch Hunter” are all really critically panned movies with very low Rotten Tomatoes scores. Why would you hire these screenwriters? This garbage will probably have a 10 or 20% RT score.
These two factors combined I see this being a huge bomb at the box-office. This makes far less sense than a solo Venom film. I don’t know what Sony is thinking.
Hopefully the death of the Marvel Sonymatic Universe. Get these characters back where they belong.
The articles about this story I’ve read this week have really been pushing that Morbius is “an anti-hero” instead of “a villain”. “No, he’s not a bad guy, he’s just a good guy that goes farther than regular heroes … by killing people by drinking their blood.”
