UPDATE: Well, I went to take a look at the Bill Beckham Casting Facebook Page, and it turns out their casting call for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which they listed as an “Undisclosed Sony Pictures Feature Film,” was posted back in November 20, 2014. Which, of course, was before the Sony email hacks and the reveal that there had been discussions between Marvel and Sony going on over the Spider-Man film rights. So your guess is as good as mine as to whether or not this casting call is still in effect or is even legit. Thanks goes to Miken Ayers posting over the Spider-Man Crawlspace’s Facebook page for bringing this to our attention.
To say that Sony has been having problems with Spider-Man is an understatement. Despite being the sixth-highest grossing film of 2014, both critics and audience alike panned The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and the film performed below expectations. The planned release date for Amazing Spider-Man 3 was pushed back from its original 2016 release date to 2018, with a Sinister Six film directed by Drew Goddard taking its place. And thanks to the release of confidential emails hacked from Sony’s computers, serious discussions had been underway for Marvel possibly buying the film rights back from Sony, with a cameo of Spidey to appear in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. There were even rumors that Andrew Garfield might be replaced as Peter Parker regardless of whatever deal Marvel and Sony finalized.
Well, it appears fans can rest easy. Not only is The Amazing Spider-Man 3 apparently still a go, but Andrew Garfield will once again be the wall-crawling superhero after all. This is according to a listing on Bill Beckham Casting (via ComicBookMovie.com) requesting “male and female extras of all races and ethnicties between the ages of 18 and 65″ for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Described as “Peter Parker/Spider-Man faces a new challenge to protect New York City,” it also states that, along with Garfield, Dane DeHann (who played Harry Osborn/The Green Goblin in Amazing Spider-Man 2) will also star in the film.
One odd detail from the casting call sheet is that instead of New York City (where the shooting locations of the first two Amazing Spider-Man films took place), filming will begin in Atlanta, GA. This has led to some speculation that, was it being called “The Amazing Spider-Man 3” is actually a fake working title for Sinister Six, and that Atlanta will substitute for London, England, which, according to leaked emails between SPE Co-Chairwoman Amy Pascal and Goddard, is one of the key settings of the proposed film. Or perhaps the full title will be Amazing Spider-Man 3: Sinister Six?
Whatever the case, it appears Garfield may be sticking around after all.
UPDATE 2: And in another bizarre twist-of-events, Daily Bugle Spidey is alleging the supposed casting call for extras for Amazing Spider-Man 3 is actually a scam. Apparently, people who’ve auditioned as extras with Bill Beckham Casting and sent money to them in the past never got it back; and while the address the agency lists as its headquarters is indeed an actual address in New York City, there’s really nothing there but a vacant building lot. More developments to follow.

Garfield does good work as Peter / Spidey. He can stay. It’s the ASM producers and screenwriters that need to go.
What Don said. I don’t think we’re ever going to see anyone who embodies Peter/Spidey better than Garfield does.
Getting rid of him makes no sense to me. Why would you want to alienate one of this current generation’s most beloved young actors and potentially his girlfriend, who is even more popular? Far as I’m concerned, Sony owes him an apology.
Garfield imo is a great Spider-man!!!! I would be sad to see him go!!! For me Garfield should stay and join the MCU!!!! 😛
I think Abandoning the so called “amazing” films is best for everyone involved. Fans are leaving in droves and quite frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Spider-man movies as a whole fizzle out for many years because of this franchise.
From the moment I first saw Peter in ASM, I liked Garfield.
That’s not true. From the moment that video of him at SDCC dressed as Spider-Man first went online, I liked Garfield.
He’s a terrific ambassador for the character. He regularly visited children in and out of the costume, he looks the part, he has a natural sense of humor that fits the character, and he loves being Spider-Man. You can’t just hire all of that with another guy. Plus there’s no improving on that terrific costume from ASM2. The Webb films have a lot of problems, but Andrew Garfield’s nowhere on that list.
I’d say Garfield was the 2nd best thing in the franchise, with the 1st best thing being the interplay between Garfield and Stone (or maybe it’s a tie). With her gone in ASM3, they’re gonna have to hope they catch lightning in a bottle twice with whatever actress they hire to replace her.
If Garfield’s still Spider-Man, I’ll still be happy. He’s consistently and appropriately the best thing in the franchise.

I thought Harry died in ASM2. I guess that’s how memorable his character was.
