  1. @2 – It is a shame that Peter David was never the writer for ASM. According to Wikipedia he has only written 5 issues, and only 2 of those were consecutive. The best Spidey writer to never be the official writer of ASM? I think we gotta give that to PD.

@5 – I mostly remember Angel Medina from the Warlock and the Infinity Watch series, I found his art fit the cosmic weirdness of that series very well.

  2. I’ve never been a huge Angel Medina fan. I loathed him when he took over Spawn back in the day, but he definitely improved over the years. His stuff around the SSM v2 time frame was actually kinda enjoyable. Although, my initial dislike of him on Spawn could have been negatively affected by the fact that the time he took over Spawn was one of the low points, storywise, in the series for me.

  3. Ssss-olid epi-sss-ode, sss-ir!

In the wrap-up, George, you said that Spider-Man 2099 is your “refuge title”…I would have to agree. I still refuse to read ASM to this day after OMD, but 2099 is a solid substitute.

In fact, that’s exactly how I felt when Spider-Man 2099 first came out in the 90’s, and quickly became my refuge title after ASM went off the rails (Peter’s parents, Maximum Carnage, the Clone Saga…ugh.)

If only Peter David could get back on ASM, and bring Peter back to his old, confident, responsible self…or at least have Miguel beat some sense into him.

  4. On the “dinosaurs can’t smell” thing. Peter references that in the comic and Brad and I accept it as a given in the podcast. I did some poking around after and found out that therapods (primarily meat eating dinosaurs, including T-Rex & Velociraptors) had varying degrees of smell that helped them find prey. Modern birds inherited a well-developed sense of smell from them. Stegron, however, is based more on a stegosaurus (stegosaurid) which was a herbivore and probably did not have a therapod’s need for a keen sense of smell as it did not hunt prey.

The teacher in me would point out here that every day presents us a moment to learn something. The smart-ass in me would point out that Brad and I were “kinda sorta a little more or less” correct. Maybe. Heh. 🙂
