I hope this scene from "Amazing Spider-Man" issue 241 does not start a flame war. On our last Skype chat we talked about the way Mary Jane was portrayed pre-marriage and I brought this scene up.
Back to our regularly scheduled program, I was trying to think of a Clone Saga Memory that George Berryman (and Kevin Cushing) would approve of. I present Spider-Ben with A Nazi-Skeleton-covered-in-bees. Art by Mike ‘Ringo, […]
“Well, whatever this is…this is it” This April will see the release of Ultimate Spider-Man #200. A series which Brian Michael Bendis and a plethora of the industries top artists have been working on since […]
From “Web of Spider-Man” issue 43. One of my favorite Peter David Spidey stories. Flash and Peter rescue Betty from the “Cult of Love”. I love Peter decides to cut the BS, even if it’s […]
I saw this and thought it was the daily strip. I thought, “Did I miss something?”
It has long been established that MJ’s party-girl attitude was mostly an act to hide her own pain with her family problems.
Do you remember what exactly Stern said? Because that looks like the “Party Girl” Facade going up early.
I have never ever thought of MJ as slutty. She just liked to party. We’ve all known people like that.
Yeah, the discussion was actually around why Roger Stern hate marriage in general. Then bertone sent us this and we all laugh!
Actually the discussion was about whether or not we thought MJ was written as a slutty character. Roger Stern seemed to imply in his stories that she was sleeping around with a lot of different guys. After seeing this panel, I confess its not as bad as I was afraid it was going to be.
Don’t know why that scene caused a fuss. I’ve seen instances post-alien coustume where she’s just playdating yet loves Peter…and she still hates that she ran out on him a few years ago, obviously she’s not at ease going back yet.
Of course, she ends up visiting him anyway, and the rest is PROPER history.
On a lighter note: You sure the argument wasnt caused by how Aunt Anna is surprisingly hot?
