According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marc Webb has revealed that BJ Novak is to portray Alistair Smythe in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Novak is best known for this role in the US version of The Office.
Alistair Smythe, whose name I can’t say without hearing the Kingpin’s voice from the 90’s show, was recently responsible for the death of Marla Jamieson, before meeting his demise at the hands of the Superior Spider-Man. What role Smythe plays in the Amazing Spider-Man is unknown at this point.
Though I’m sure we can speculate.
I suspect his role will be in the the same vain as Doc Connors in the 1st trilogy.
The fact that we’re just hearing about it now means he probably doesn’t have as much screen time as Jamie Foxx or is that important to the plot. Probably just introducing the character for inclusion in later movies.
The fact that a character is in the movie doesn’t really mean that he will have more than 5′ on screen….
AAAAAHHHH!!! Villain OVERLOAD!!!
That said, I do think BJ Novak could play the part well. but still… TOO MUCH IN ONE MOVIE!!!
Wasn’t Smythe the main villain of the ASM movie game?
Hi dream was to see me wulk again, a dream you both shat-turd!
Spider-Man destroyed my faathuuuh.
I hope his audition involved him saying “trajectories”.
