You’ve been asking for it…and now it’s here: THE CLONE SAGA!!! Marvel’s most controversial event of all time returns with a vengeance, presenting the Clone Saga as it was originally intended to be told! From the minds behind the crossover that changed comics forever and the artist that introduced Spider-Man to President Obama, it’s six issues of twists and turns that will shock fans old and new alike! 32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: I’ve dissed the book for years, but I’m excited for this mini-series. Ben wasn’t a bad character, he just shouldn’t be THE only Spider-Man. I also think Howard Mackie was underrated as an writer. I’ve invited Howard and Tom to come on the July show to plug the book. Tom has accepted and I’m waiting on Howard to return my email.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN PRESENTS: ANTI-VENOM– NEW WAYS TO LIVE #1 (of 3)
Written by Zeb Wells
Penciled by Paulo Siqueira
Cover by Mirco Pierfederici
What’s Black, White and Dead all over?!?! From the pages of last year’s best-selling NEW WAYS TO DIE, Zeb Wells (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN; NEW MUTANTS) and Paulo Siqueira (Amazing Spider-Man, Ms. MARVEL) bring you the story of Eddie Brock, the sallow symbiote known as Anti-Venom! With his life saved by Spider-Man, Eddie is cautiously walking the line between the darkness and light while trying to find his place in a world marked only by gray. The absolute last person he needs to run into is the Punisher. Unfortunately, the Punisher remembers Eddie as a cold-blooded killer, and that is just gonna hurt.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: Ugh, I’ll probablly buy this but Zeb Wells and Anti-Venom….not my favorite.
DARK REIGN: THE SINISTER SPIDER-MAN #4 (of 4)

BD Commentary: Again, another case of a creator I don’t care for and a price that is a bit steep.

PUNISHER ANNUAL #1
Written by RICK REMENDER
Pencils & Cover by JASON PEARSON
"REMOTE CONTROL"
The Punisher faces his greatest challenge yet: Trapped in the throes of a hypnotic spell, Spider-Man’s gone psycho and he wants to grind Frank Castle’s bones to paste! And since Spidey’s not really to blame for his actions, Castle faces a dilemma: Fight (the only way he knows how) or die. Can the Punisher survive a bloodthirsty Wall-Crawler long enough to disconnect him from the control of the Dirty Dozen’s leaders, Letha and Lascivious? Super-star artist Jason Pearson joins regular series writer Rick Remender.
48 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99
BD Commentary: This has to be the worst Spider-Logo I’ve seen in a very long time. The regular Punisher book however is solid reading.
Now that I think of it…that Bachalo cover sure looks alot like the 2 covers he already used during the hammerhead. flying clown gang, robot hamster, Greta arc.
hmmmm….
I didn’t even try, Chris… I just ignored it all together….
Well Kevin, at least the Alpha cover was cool. (Kaine, Scarlet and Spidey.)
Don’t worry Chris, A team of scientists are working on it as we speak. :p
He used to be pretty ok on X-men, and I was a fan of some of his Spidey concept art from the 90s.
I don’t understand what happened. =/
Seriously, he seems to be getting worse these days. He’s almost in Humberto Ramos Planet of the apes territory. =(
Am I the only one who can’t tell what the Sinister Spider-Man cover is supposed to be depicting no matter how hard I look at it?
No problem Kevin. Just stating my mind. 😉
I really think you could be the next Bendis, Kirkman, (geoff) johns etc. I have never liked the character of Harry Osborn until I’ve seen how you wrote him. You made his revival worth it (instead of retreating ground like Marvel is currently doing)
I wish there was a petition or something that could be signed to get Marvel’s attention to help you out.
@ Rob :Yeah I’ve heard good things about his Miss Marvel comic, but just as you said…its started to dwindle.
I don’t want to hate on him though…I just don’t think he’s earned the status he has quite yet, especially when there are overlooked writers such as Kevin out there. (Look at the characters Brian Reed has already worked with thus far. Even Bendis started with much much much lesser known books)
If anything I wish Brian Reed does better. We don’t need any crappy comics now do we? lol
That cover looks like one of those magic eye pictograms
The only good stuff by Brian Reed I’ve read was his early Miss Marvel comics but that started to go down by the issues found at the end of the third trade so I stopped reading (especially after hearing that the quality went from a pretty good lite book in the vein of Slott’s She-Hulk run that would sometimes delve into some dark territory into something along the lines of Reed’s crap work around the issues found in the fourth trade).
I do pick of the Mag, BD. It’s okay. Some enjoyable minis. I like the Power Pack Stuff.
Hey Brad… you think my opinion of Howard Mackie was harsh? How about you and Styles go over to the TFW2005 message board and ask everyone their opinion of Pat Lee… or better yet, do some research on him…
Why do they keep giving that guy work?!?!?
The “trimmed” Wiki version…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat_Lee
And the Transformers Wiki version… now with bonus DVD goodies (the stuff that “someone” omitted from Wikipedia over time. )
http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Pat_Lee
To this day, he STILL hasn’t paid his dues…
I’d like to point out two things.
If Brian Reed is a “hot new writer” than Kevin Cushing should be a legend.
When I’m not reading Invincible, I’m reading his crawlspace comic. He has a great grasp of the characters and not only that makes me really look forward to the next issue. (Something I haven’t felt in comics for a couple of years.)
Now about that Mr. Reed…seriously, I haven’t enjoyed anything I’ve ever read/seen from him. He’s not bad…he’s just. Ok…not worth the 3.99 price tag every month in my opinion.
From what I remember he worked on the ultimate spider-man game *he watched Bendis write the story and not too long he jumped in to comics from there*. If I’m wrong about that PUH-LEEZE correct a brotha.
His writing wasn’t too good in web of shadows either…but thats a story for another day. =)
and PAT LEE!!! his art was really really really really really bad during Spider-man: The other. But he’s actually a really good artists. =)
At least his Batman and dinosaur monster things look great IMO lol.
Do I have to be high on something to enjoy this cover to the fullest?
sounds good. i think im more excited for the clone saga then i am for amazing #600 lol…..that’s sad.
