Slott & Ramos Send Spidey On A Mission Into The Heart Of Crime

New York, NY—April 4th , 2013— This July, the chart topping creative team behind Amazing Spider-Man #700, Dan Slott & Humberto Ramos, go straight to the steps of Shadowland in Superior Spider-Man #14! This all-new story arc, launching during Superior Spider-Month, gives fans a whole new look into the world of Superior Spider-Man, great for lapsed and new readers alike!

Continuing his personal quest to show the world why he is truly the superior Spider-Man, Otto Octavius looks to add cleaning up the City of New York to his list of accomplishments! With the Kingpin and Hobgoblin running crime throughout the city for far too long and nobody daring enough to take them down, the Superior Spider-Man takes matters into his own hands!

“Superior Spider-Man #14 marks a drastic change for the character AND the series. He’s got new allies, a new look, and an all-new agenda,” explained Slott. “And we kick it off with a moment that will LITERALLY change the face of New York in the Marvel Universe! In ANY incarnation of ANY book with ANY character called Spider-Man, you have NEVER seen a Spider-Man operate like this before! Forget Superior Spider-Man Month! This chapter kicks off the Superior Spider-Man AGE!”

And just when you see what Superior Spider-Man is really capable of when given the opportunity – fans everywhere will be screaming for more!

  1. Pretty nice post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really loved browsing your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing for your rss feed and I am hoping you write again soon!

  2. I don’t leave many responses, but after browsing a few of the remarks on this page Spider Man Crawlspace » Superior Shadowland. I actually do have some questions for you if you do not mind. Could it be simply me or does it look as if like some of the remarks look like they are left by brain dead folks? 😛 And, if you are writing on other sites, I’d like
to follow you. Would you make a list of the complete urls of your social pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

  3. Well done Marvel for destroying any legacy Peter as left – we don’t want the Superior Daredevil.

  4. So Doctor Spock defeats the Kingpin, takes over the Hand, turns New York into a police state and Dan Slotts quest to turn the Amazing Spider-Man into a second rate Daredevil is complete.
Ok. Someone call me when (and if) this garbage ever ends. I’ll be over there reading “Justice League Dark,” “Hawkeye” and “Chew.”

  5. “With the Kingpin and Hobgoblin running crime throughout the city…”

It’s sad to think that this statement should make all Spider-Fans freak out and go crazy with anticipation. But with the realities of the last five years and all the trainwrecks since it just rates a shoulder shrug.

  6. Does the new costume resembles the ASM movie costume to anyone? Mainly in the gloves and sneaker-like boots, heck even the black lenses remind me of sunglasses.

  7. I just wanted to say I actually like Superior just fine so far. For what it’s worth, I’m excited to read each new issue. That was true for all of Big Time and it hadn’t been true since #545. I’m also very much in favor of getting rid of the Peter ghost. I was ready to go on the full Otto ride with 700 and Avenging 15.1 so the end of Superior #1 felt like kind of a cop-out.

  8. @24 Haha, indeed. Slott’s really trying to hard to make Otto the honey badger of Marvel right now. This kinda ruins it for all the good that was Superior #7.

  9. @23 I believe with all these mini world shattering events slotts trying to reinforce the idea that this is now spidey look how important he is isn’t he superior? When a lot of fans just want the actual spider-Man back. I’m expecting with how desperate he is for approval next we will see the imposter in the illuminaties then make his own avengers after that of course he will battle apocalypse. Then defeat dr. Doom and as a finale completely embarrass galactus in a thumb wrestling match. Sorry for the rant

  10. @#22 – Exactly what I thought. Not everything can be a game changer?

If you include the ASM/Superior changeover, the projected events of SSM #9 and now this, it will be the third “game changing” event connected to the Spider-Man franchise in less than a year. While I know I’m in the minority based on the comments section here, but I’m actually enjoying Superior and believe this will all play out in an interesting way. With that said, I’m getting “event” fatigue. Sales are strong for the title despite all the talk of boycotts, so I don’t understand the hard push every 3-4 issues it seems.

  11. @ #2` It’s to be hoped if SpOck taps his heels together and says “there’s no place like home”, this farce will magically come to an end.

And…“Superior Spider-Man #14 marks a drastic change for the character AND the series. This chapter kicks off the Superior Spider-Man AGE!

And just when you see what Superior Spider-Man is really capable of when given the opportunity – fans everywhere will be screaming for more!”

marvel – the house of understatement

  12. This being the start of the superior age is sincerely the worst thing I’ve read in weeks. Does marvel not keep thier ear to the ground and see how fans really feel about this garbage attempt at shocking reinvention? The only hope I have now is when amazing spidey 2 comes out next year we get the REAL superior spider-man back to coincide with the film

  13. @13 Yeah! At first I saw the image and thought “Ben”!

Overall, I’ve been enjoying Superior Spider-Man (not that every issue is great… notably the last few issues) but with Ramos back on art, I’m getting less enthusiastic again.

  14. Because NOTHING says you have your finger on the pulse of the readership than tying into a storyline from three years ago that barely anyone ever read or remembered, including the book that was launched from that crossover.

  15. “This chapter kicks off the Superior Spider-Man AGE!”

…Then what the hell do you call the first thirteen issues?

So I’m guessing the way #9 makes us angrier is to completely destroy Ghost Peter. Great, because why else should we care about this if you destroy the ONE thing a lot of people actually care about? Granted, that’s saying too much considering how Ghost Peter typically just complains about whatever Otto is doing, but still.

Apparently the “Big event of the summer!” is SpOck retreading the territory of a Daredevil event. God I wish this would just tie into Infinity somehow.

  16. This doesn’t make me want to buy the comic. I haven’t brought any going on for almost a year now.

  17. I’m getting even fatigue fast with Superior Spider-Man. Even this image which evokes the start of Big Time feels redundant to me.

  18. Told you folks Doc Ock’s master plan was to take over New York and turn it into his own mini police state. First he gets the support of J. Jonah Jameson who doesn’t realize how much he’s being used. Then he sets up his city-wide surveillance system via the spider-bots. And now he’s getting his own spider-themed secret police force, probably no doubt supplied by Jonah himself. Once a super-villain, always a super-villain.

  19. Anyone recognizing those outfits they guys in the background are wearing? Since they are all the same, I guess it is important.

  20. At this rate, nothing short of a full reboot is gonna fix what he’s done with this character.

  21. Considering that the Superior title is continuing, I think it was kinda inevitable that Otto would stay on as Spidey in some form. Like the new costume, makes fair sense that Otto would keep upgrading in his bid to stay “superior”. Looking forward to this.

  22. Backed by Mayor Jameson and Otto Octavius’s (Ends of the Earth) mind-controlling octo-bots, the “Spider-Squadron” is the new face of law in New York City. Bummer about Pete’s soul being ripped in half and literally obliterated in issue #9.

  23. Jesus…why God why? Now he is even more superior….we’ll make you forget Peter Parker ever existed….FFS…so very depressing:(…..Will hold out until Pete’s return or simply not buy even then as the brand has undergone so much “improvement”……….really hard to undo.

  24. Well, that basically spoils that Otto will still be Spider-Man after whatever status quo change happens in #9.
