Comic Vine has just released information on a new ongoing series by Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber titled “The Superior Foes of Spider-Man”.
“With superior power comes superior responsibility…and superior villains! Boomerang, Shocker, Speed Demon, the Beetle, and Overdrive take a cue from the Superior Spider-Man and get upgraded for a new era of evil – and the score of a lifetime! It’s a tale of suspense that’ll turn the Marvel Universe upside down – as only THE SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN can!”

Really looking forward to this one. ‘The Deadly Foes of Spider-Man’ was a great, and yet sadly underestimated, storyline, and I’m hoping this new series will be just as interesting of a look into the villains’ lives.
I’m going to share my thoughts in my Superior Spider-Man review later.
Regardless of how long they intend for this to go on, I’m pretty sure it’s going to end up being a mini.
Picking this up, I hope there’s a Skottie Young variant.
I’m going to give it a try. It definitely has potential.
I’m still waiting for the “superior” villains to show up.
People trashing the roster for being lame: you are missing the point entirely. This has me more interested than anything else Marvel’s announced lately; the fact that they’re publishing a book with Boomerang as the focal character makes me feel like they’re pretty confident. I don’t buy a lot of comics, but I might have to give this a shot.
Are we sure this wasnt supposed to be posted yesterday? 😀 No, but all kidding aside, this looks weird. I also thought it sounded more like a mini series when I first read it. I mean what kind of story arcs can you do with this as an ongoing really, without becoming repetitive? That´s my biggest concern.
Yeah, whatever
Shocker’s new costume is weird
Thank you Marvel for getting the lamest villains and putting them into a comic. No, seriously. This sounds pretty cool.
Boomerang, Shocker, and Speed Demon have already been on the T-Bolts for stints (heck, Boomer and Shocker are still wearing their T-Bolt belt buckles up there!), so if this book builds on their experiences there and is a better Thunderbolts book than the current Way in-name-only one is, fine.
But Nick Spencer’s always been pretty “meh” to me, so I’m not exactly champing at the bit here…
Spencer’s a good writer based on the one issue of Morning Glories I’ve read, but WOW I was not asking for an ongoing series staring this team. This sounds like the answer to the challenge “name four villains lamer than Shocker.”
I like how it says turn the MU upside down. The Spider-Titles haven’t affected the MU since Civil War.
Love me some Nick Spencer, will buy.
Surprised this is an ongoing rather than a mini, but heard good things about Spencer’s work, might check it out.
Don’t care. Going back and reading old back issues like Daredevil and all the Ultimate comics I didn’t get to. Undo OMD, I come back with open arms.
