#22 As a fellow 46 year old spidey fan, yes, I think so.
Here boy! Here boy! Here, spider-fans… get the carrot! get the carrot!!! *whistles…*
You’re all Bugs Bunny…. and this is another carrot.
dammit. as a 46 year old spidey fan….is marvel trying to get rid of me?
I’m done. I think I’ll be done with 616 Spider-Man for a while. This just isn’t what I wanted, I think. I’ll go towards the beginning of the JMS run if I ever have the need.
According to Slott at NYCC, “The Superior Spider-Man has serious Spider-Man pedigree.” Keep in mind that Slott has been reading Spider-Man for about 40 years, so it has to be someone that he would think has a serious pedigree. I think that probably rules out A, C, and (for sure) D in your post, Nightmare Freddy.
Now that Milles Moral (age and skin color), Kaine (is series was said to not to be affected) and Alpha (age in my opinion anyway) are disqualified, so I think that it’s:
A) Ben Reillis
B) Peter with the mind of Octavius
C) Miguel O’Hara (Why would he kiss someone who might be related, be very old or dead in his time?)
D) Another or new clone of Parker (Except Doppelganger and Kain)
I reckon it’s Miguel O’Hara.
The guy on the cover is caucasian, around Peter’s build, is meaner, and has talons. It describes Miguel’s personality. I reckon Ock brings him to the past.
Or, if it is Ock in Pete’s body than that’s just plain dumb.
What ever happened to trying to make it actually “Amazing” instead of BLAH!
I’m going by the theory that Peter is still Spidey, but in issue 700 he’s going to have fake his death and thus longer be Peter. It’d be interesting to see them do this right, as opposed to that whole “I am the Spider!” silliness in the 90’s.
I wonder if it could be Roderick Kingsley masquerading as Spidey and MJ (who has been kind of pining for Peter – see some of the Spider-Island moments) is just kissing Spidey, thinking it’s Pete, and this is all temporary and meanwhile Ock has done something to debilitate Pete so he’s on the sidelines and eventually Pete snaps out of it, kicks the crap out of Roderick and all goes back to Slott’s status quo. Or am I just grasping at straws?
@ #14: Exactly right.
Deal wih Devil still in place? Check.
OMD/BND still in place? Check.
Marvel still trolling readers? Check.
Readers not interested in buying this? Check.
“Expect the monkey’s paw. You will get what you want, but not the way you want it!”
Dan Slott’s words, not mine.
MJ is rockin’ some serious side boobage there. And I agree with sthenurus, I wanted MJ and Peter together, not MJ and Spider-Man, so nope Slott, not even in the neighborhood of what I wanted! But Mary Jane being featured in the new title so prominently does make me want to give this a try, even though she may end up being sexually assaulted by Doc Ock in Spidey’s body. 🙁
Please don’t go there, Marvel!
They should have titled it “The Lecherous Spider-Man”
I don’t think the people running Marvel Publishing distinguish between attention that comes from enthusiasm and attention that comes from controversy.
The latest “F-U” from Marvel.
Not sure about that cover. It isn’t ugly artwork or anything, but the image isn’t striking enough to carry it through the lack of background. It kinda looks like an interior panel with background deleted. Shame, as the Superior #1 cover was a lovely piece of work.
Plot-wise, still looks interesting enough.
If it is Peter with MJ, then yes…this is a step in the right direction.
As far as I’m concern, i never wanted spider-man and Mj back together; i wanted Peter and MJ back together. So nop, still not getting what i wanted.
Slott tweeted last week that the the quote about Spider-man getting back together with MJ and that Spider-man not being Peter Parker, was not accurate. But he is still saying that Spider-man is not Peter Parker….so who knows what that all means. He also said that the new Spider-man book won’t cause any changes in Venom or Scarlet Spider so looks like Kaine is not going to be the new Spider-man.
Marvel’s latest goal: Make people REGRET the two are together?
“Well we got our wish” But Slott is still writing.
Who wants to bet this is Doc Ock’s mind in Spidey’s body, as suggested in the latest CS podcast?
Considering the guy isn’t supposed to be Peter Parker, a little creepy.
Beautiful art. Until we know more. That’s all I got.
