The Avengers movie had the biggest debut in film history. Too bad Spidey wasn’t on the team. In the comment feel free to discuss what you thought of the movie.

Helpful info. Fortunate me I found your site by accident, and I’m stunned why this twist of fate did not took place in advance! I bookmarked it.
In my honest opinion, The Avengers was effing amazing. I am upset Spiderman was not in the movie. You can blame Sony for that. Unless they Marvel buys the rights back from Sony, you will never see Spiderman in the Avengers. The only way to make this happen is to boycott the new movie. Cmon guys, an origin story that lasts for 3 sequels. I am sorry, I will not watch Amazing Spiderman. It should be called Ultimate Spiderman. I want Sony to fail miserable so that Marvel can do the spiderman movie justice.
I didn’t really like it. I still think Watchmen was the best superhero movie ever. . . So who do I hand my Marvel card to?
Oh it was definitely Thanos – my all time favorite Marvel villain. I loved this movie and my wife who has know history with comics and these heroes except though these movies loved it as well. As Kbox said – the characters personalities shown through in actions and interactions brilliantly. I could not believe how good it was. And then when I saw Thanos at the end I jumped out of my seat. And that final scene was god dam hysterical. Definitely will go see it again.
Would also account for the “court death” comment…:)
Possibly, but I don’t think we saw enough of him to make that claim. However, his outfit and facial structure strongly resemble Thanos, he’s the only one that would be a bigger threat than Loki, and Joss Whedon has outright said that it’s him.
Looked too reddish to be Thanos? Maybe?
That wasn’t Red Skull. I won’t say who it was, but remember that The Other was telling his master that “to invader Earth is to court death.”
Perfection…even the final clip at the very end of the movie…after the Red Skull cameo with the whole gang chowing down on Schwarma was fan-freakin-tastic..and agreed other superhero films have their work cut out for them…the Loki beatdown by Hulk will rate as one of the best action sequences/comedic moments of all time…to make it even tastier in my neck of the woods, Marvel/Disney has a current promotion on all 5 Seasons of X-Men..if you buy each season for $19.83/per season..you get a $14.00 coupon towards the Avengers..so essentially unless you go Imax 3-D your movie is paid for…I went Imax incidentally, and it was mind blowingly good. Cheers.
I agree with Nick MB! Try and see the movie in 2D.
But it was THE BEST super hero I’ve ever seen. The dialogue and action went hand in hand.
I can’t wait for the DVD to see the scenes that were cut out.
@13 For what it’s worth, you can definitely live without the 3D. It doesn’t add much, and if anything makes some of the action sequences (especially the ones set indoors) quite hard to follow.
Good movie though. Certainly up there with Spider-Man 2/X-Men 2/Dark Knight, possibly better than some of them.
Oh man… someone needs to get a clip of Hulk punching Thor as their avatar for the message boards.
Awesome movie!
You all know my ability to find fault with things.
But I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this film.
It demonstrated who the characters were through their actions rather than through exposition.
Most critically acclaimed serious-minded Oscar-bait movies don’t even live up to that standard.
This was, as far as I can tell, a literally flawless work.
Wow not a single bad review, and i have to say i agree with everyone else. Might be the best superhero movie i’ve ever seen. Fun, every character had their moments, a few laugh out loud funny moments, it was still serious without being dark and gritty. (like we’re going to be subjected to with spiderman.) what a superhero movie should be.
I really enjoyed this movie. Dark Knight Rises has A LOT to live up to now. I bet Chris Nolan is losing sleep because Avengers just ran away with the best film of the year….Can anyone tell that I like it??
Man, you guys are such haters! 😉
This movie deffinetely lived up to my expectations. Loved how the team came together, the character interactions, the humour, the action all of it. Id say this is my new favourite superhero movie. Looking forward to the sequel.
Well, I’m still looking forward to seeing it. But I have a very difficult time at the theaters, due to my back pain (and fractured tail bone). I live with lots of pain everyday, and it sucks. I’m not sure if I can handle a 2 1/2 hour movie. So I may have to wait till the blu-ray comes out, like I did with Thor and captain America. But if I can make it to the show, would it be good in non 3D? What did you all see it in?
Keep On Thwipin’
Sam
I’m not sure if this is the best comic book movie ever made, but it is my favorite comic book movie ever. Saw it 3 times this weekend and honestly I can’t wait to watch it again.
Spider-Man will never appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because he and Ghost Rider are owned by Columbia Pictures. Seriously, Sony is the parent company of the studio whose only Marvel characters have (in)famously made deals with the devil. If Joe Quesada is Mephisto, then Sony is Hell. God knows what that makes Fox.
But seriously, this movie was awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard at actual comedies. I’m looking forward to the next wave of Marvel films, and I hope The Amazing Spider-Man doesn’t get overshadowed by The Avengers.
I was so excited heading into this movie, and my expectations were far surpassed by what the movie is. The Avengers was definitely one of the most satisfying trips to the movies that I have had for a VERY long time. I had so much fun seeing it, and won’t be surprised if I see it again!
Remember the cameo at the end?`:) THAT is how they will top this. I´m not that huge fan of that character but even I am excited about it. Shame it will be quite a while before we see it though. Movie was great I actually hadn´t gotten so excited before I saw Thor and Captain America. Two days before I saw it in the cinema I prepared myself with a Marvel Movie-marathon with all the movies leading up to it.
How do you top this?
Everything AmFan said, except I didn’t cry.
After YEARS of waiting (Since the Nick Fury scene in Iron Man 1), I had started to doubt if this movie could POSSIBLY live up to my expectations…
But it exceeded every one of them! Words can’t even begin to describe how awesome this movie was!
I won’t spoil anything, but there is a fight scene where the camera pans from street to rooftop to sky, showing each and every member doing something INCREDIBLY badass…I was smiling so hard a tear rolled down my cheek!
I plan on seeing it again soon.
My favorite superhero movie. And IMHO, Spider-Man should never be on the team.
Spider-Man is facing some tought times. Avengers not only shattered records for its opening, but he is facing an anti-reboot crowd. Avengers ASSEMBLED PERFECTLY! Nuff Said.
Haha, perfect picture.
The movie was pure awesomeness, definitely amongst my favorite superhero movies.
Loved the movie, had everything I wanted and more in an Avengers movie. Would love to see Spiderman join them someday. Have high hopes for amazing spiderman tho
I know it’s high praise but easily one of the best films, and certainly my personal favourite film I’ve seen. Everything about it was so well done, the humour, the action, the characters, all of it was nothing short of incredible. Will you guys be talking about it on the cast? I know it’s not Spider-Man related but you had a discussion on Iron Man 2 back in 08.
