Kinda surprised how much you guys are not into Spider-Island. I’m really enjoying it. Sure it’s a little silly in places but far more important than that.. it’s FUN!
And I’m no gung-ho defender of all that Marvel put out with the Spider-Man name on it, in fact I would say I agree with JR about 90% of the time. Reading JR’s year in reviews is like looking over my own notes, although I tended to enjoy JMS run more than him.
But I have been reading every issue tied into this event and have found it to be the most entertaining Spider-Man story arc since the Marvel Knights initial 12 issue arc.
The queen is a lame villian though, but it doesn’t mean she can’t be changed into a good one (this story has not done that so far though).
I don’t think Ramos draws like Campbell. They have a similiar appeal, but Campbell’s is a more logical extreme. Ramos kind of puts square elbows and such. He’s faces are beyond cartoony extreme and Campbell’s are more reality based. He used to do celeberity chariatures (sp) before he got into comics. I’m sure he’s great on time though. He was the Cliffhanger guy whose book put out the most issues. I was looking forward to that Campbell Spider-man book. I don’t know if we’ll ever see it, though.
Kevin’s reaction to the Queen’s reveal had me in tears!!!! I almost wore out the track back on my iPod listening to that segment over and over. Priceless!!!
I had to get my glasses. BD GRADING A DC BOOK? my ass has to get up at 6am more often.
