Plot: The world has turned upside down! The Skrulls have taken the Earth as part of their empire, the Avengers and Initiative are scattered…but there are two people who want some answers. One has a hammer and one has a shield.

Thoughts: Well we’re at the half way point and…I don’t know what to make of it! I mean it’s not like Bendis’s last Event Mini, House of M, where by the time we were at the half way point the story was still going no where. This event is MILES better than that! What I mean is I have no idea still where this is going to end up. I have no idea what’s to happen next! That’s what I’ve loved most about recent events lately (at Marvel and DC) is that you really have no idea what’s coming until the very last issue. Which is usually the make or break of an event of course but we’re not there yet.

Well first I want to get any revelations out of the way. We find out that the Phoenix in the ship was a skrull (duh, pretty obvious) and the beast in the ship…despite the Who Do YOu Trust one shot making it seem like he was the real deal…was a skrull. Now this kind of ticks me off a bit. Not saying I wanted the current beast to be a skrull either but it felt like such a cop out to build it up in the one shot and then BAM reveal it was all a hoax. But I won’t mark things down for that.

Continuing on from Last Issue, the question of is Tony Stark a skrull or not is still being kept up! I hope he isn’t but that’s just me. I LOVED how Black Window kicked butt this time! And she nailed it on how to deal with Tony’s questionible status…look at my fav quote for it.

There’s also something else I realized I’ve forgotten about the past few issues and that was Agent Brand! Now I’m a HUGE X-Men fan and I LOVED Joss Whedon’s run on Astonishing X-Men and the concept of SWORD was brilliant! Agent Brand was also a great character too and it’s nice to see she’s being properly used in this mini. As Bendis has stated in interviews, it was natural for Sword to be a target of the Skrulls and this, of course, led to Brand being used too. Can’t wait to see what else happens with her.

Lastly…the cliffhanger! What can I say except…I hope this isn’t like Civil War #3.

As for the art…let me repeat what I said with #3. “Like I said before, I’ve given my two cents on the art but I will admit that, now that the Skrull Invasion is really kicking up, Yu’s art is really shining since, as I said in #1’s review, he does GREAT skrulls!”

Rating: 5.0 out of 5.0. Again another perfect score! This issue just continues the energy of the previous one! I just hope the mini doesn’t lag from this point on!
