I thought people were allowed to not like Marvel on this site. The moral inability to complain about it anywhere is not exactly mending the anger any.
Wow…
I have witnessed a thread derailment, first-hand.
“Sleeping around would be having sex with numerouse people”
Oh, I think we all know what was going on in that boarding house. Nathan, Doc Ock, Jonah Sr. – they’ve all sampled her wheatcakes.
@28: Actually, not all Christians live the by the same rules *Christ *wants them to.
But to be fair, not all Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Catholics, etc. live by
the rules of their founders. So what’s your point? Oh, wait – gotta hit the
“ignore” button.
@30
Ya that scene was a real wtf moment. Seriously who buys comics to see a 60-70 year old women naked in bed with a man around the same age. Atleast there wasn’t any actual nudity(I think there wasn’t shudders). The crazy part is I never actually read the issue, I know that scene exists because I saw the panels online somewhere.
I was just making a joke about how I thought that scene was gross, thats all. Glad to see Wacker can take time out of his busy schedule from defending Dan Slott’s internet behavior to come insult me on Christmas Eve.
@27
Umm they are in a relationship together, thats not sleeping around. Sleeping around would be having sex with numerouse people(probably random people in most cases) at a time. And most Christians do have pre marital sex regardless of if there supposed too or not, but then as the bible even points out no one is perfect, well except Jesus and maybe Marry.
@28
That was pretty harsh.
Not all Christians live by the same rules you want them to…(Then again you choose to go by the name “Berserkfury”… so maybe circumspection, fair-mindedness and rationality may not be of much interest. Merry Christmas though!)
Well Aunt May has been shown to be a practicing Christian in the past. Until we got to see her sleeping around with JJJ Sr. anyway…
Peter’s at least protestant, as are most marvel characters.
Otherwise, marvel can’t put out Christmas specials: it’s that simple 😛
Ive actually thought about this and I believe Petes basically a none practicing protestant. However I think the protestism mostly comes from Aunt May and to a lesser extent his mother because I for some reason think Uncle Ben(and that would make his father as well) was Jewish, a secularist Jew to be exact though so when it came to the holidays and church and stuff it was mostly Aunt Mays religion that got the for front in celebration, ie stuff like christmas.
He’s usually considered to be some type of Irish Protestant. Although since Stan Lee is Jewish, it would make sense that he acts like that.
22: Peter was written as a WASP to appeal to the widest demographic possible in the 60’s. But he certainly behaves like a New York Jew.
#14 – Well, he’d know.
#20 – Speaking of which, do we know what religion Peter is? Is he Jewish like the Ultimate version or is he Catholic?
#20… I saw Jesus, Buddha, Mohammad, Krishna, and Xenu in a bar together. Osiris and Zeus are still mad at them.
I’ve always been told that there are two things one shouldn’t talk about with out getting ready for a fight, Politics and Religion. So now that we’ve done politics who wants to lob the first one for Religion
I love how liberals just assume people who don’t agree with them watch Glenn Beck.
Thats me telling you I don’t even like Glenn Beck, not that you’ll listen.
@17
Because the Russians have always been trustworthy allies and very concerned with preventing nuclear proliferation. Amiright?
@15
Where do you get your news? Wait, let me guess… Glenn Beck, right?
Just like the US, Russian lawmakers will ratify START in their parliament (where its passage is not in doubt). It is a bilateral agreement between the two countries, and only ratified once both countries agree to it. Then both US and Russia will reduce the number of their respective nukes and launching sites. So in short, you’re wrong.
@15
I think you meant @12
@14
Good for you.
@11: Considering that its just the U.S. reducing our number of nukes, while China and Russia don’t have to reduce theirs; no, its really not responsible at all.
I was a a fan of Nixon’s “Darkseid Is…” address
.
This tops Reagan’s infamous “In Brightest Day, In Darkest Night…” speech in Prague.
#9 Luckily he doesn’t have to convince you. 🙂 Considering the cold-war is long over, there’s nothing irresponsible about reducing the number of nukes on the planet (don’t worry, we still have the capacity to blow up the world many times over).
Marvel has people spying on me?!?!?!
Oh, it’s just him…
Yay for President Obama! I voted for him. Maybe McCain should have said he was a Batman fan or something. He didnt even try to for the nerd vote
If he’s trying to convince me about the START treaty, its not working.
Huh, Stevie, I’d cut back the snark in this case and stand in aww of just how far reaching that little line that Stan came up with is.
Hey Steve, how about you stop monitoring our “negativity” and go figure out how to get your issues out on time. “Three issues into the new era of Spidey? Is that a record?”
Not impressed.
Four posts.
Is that a record?
Obama knows more about what Spidey stands for than Marvel does?
#2
*Sigh* I stay away from political discussions to get away from these lame jokes, man. You’re not helping.
Very cool!
You guys elected Ben Parker as President! its a nice change after electing The Rhino for the last 10 years…
Obama met Spider-Man at his inauguration, remember? So naturally the web-slinger imparted some wisdom. 🙂
