Vogue has just posted some new pics from the Spider-Man musical. It seems they nailed the Carnage costume. It also seems that they’re dumping the Goblin glider and just giving him wings? Thoughts? Leave em in the comment section.

spidey on the flying goblin is kinda cool, but did they have to do symbiotes
Yep…I’m going to see that in December!
Jazz hands, thwipthwip….:)
The thing about that Carnage suit is that (a) it looks like a rubber suit, and (b) that head is HUGE. Symbiotes are supposed to be living organisms bonded to human bodies, so they’re supposed to look liquid-y. I understand that they don’t have the blockbuster budget of the movies (which got the LOOK of Venom right, if nothing else), but the choice of material on Carnage is all wrong. They needed something with more fluidity to make it look convincing.
why is spiderman in a gangsta rap video on that bottom left one?
Woah! Up till now I gave Julie Taymor the benefit of the doubt. She made The Lion King so she MUST know what she’s doing, doesn’t she? These pictures have me thinking this is going to be awful, though. I never realized that they would add action figures to the cast. (Or is this just Annie Leibowitz’s art taking over?!) I’m never going to see it anyway, but if they don’t come up with something impressive in terms of publicity, I can’t imagine anyone will want to. Well, there’s a bit of hope left …
Errrgh. I feel like I’m the only one on the site that’s been excited to see this. Too bad they cancelled this weekends performances so I’ll never get to see it. 🙁
Gerard, I’m lukewarm on the Carnage suit myself, but to be fair it does suck less than pretty much every thing else we’ve seen so far.
Carnage’s rubbery tendrils look kinda silly. Well, if that thing they call the goblin has wings, we know he won’t get the glider to the gut in the end. Finally, Swiss Miss…What can you say?
Gerard,
It looks just like the Bagley version. How else should Carnage look?
I think we have different conceptions of what “nailed the Carnage costume” means, because that costume looks awful.
If you can’t say something good…
I kinda want to see it
Oh god. This is painful. I hope to god that this musical flops. I don’t want to have to hope that, but Ido.
