I didn’t grow up with Spider-man. I see OMD and OMIT for what they are: ill-conceived poorly-written stories. No “mucking up with MY Spider-man” for me.
@Themanofbat…any comments on the recent OMIT issue where Peter says that MJ “knew” his identity since she was about 16 or so? This clearly placies Parallel Lives squarely in canon by “the new direction”. So when you think about it, sure Parallel Lives does not entirely fit with all of Spidey history, but it makes a hell lot more sense than the bastardization of Spidey history we now have thanks to OMD\OMIT.
I believe most people are having a problem with OMD\OMIT because it clearly sucks, not due to anything due to a correlation to when they “grew up” with Spider-Man…
@Bertone…pretty awful graphics with the word balloon…maybe you need some George Berryman magic? BTW: Keep them up, fun stuff.
@themanofbat
I didn’t take it personally, no worries. You just didn’t happen to like something…nothing wrong with that.
Wow… did I ever rile some feathers up today… lulz
I understand that someone’s taking a fun jab… but I was having a “moment” when I came on here this morning… so my apologies to Bertone for being harsh on what he calls “fun”…
@ Styles… I hate continuity flaws, even the MJ “always knew his identity” retcon.. I’m not a fan of this removal of marriage from history retcon neither…. but I have noticed that I am enjoying Spider-Man comics moreso NOW than I was during the married years, with the exceptions of a few gems every so often… or when JM DeMatteis, PAD or Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the books… so if a person is to “overlook flaws”, such as the MJ knowing his identity retcon, why is it so difficult to overlook that they were “married”?
I believe that people are having a harder time with the latter because it affects the Spider-Man THEY grew up with… however, like the MJ always knowing his identity retcon, that affected the Spider-Man I grew up with… so tit for tat I guess, and I just wish we could all just enjoy the books…

@tmob: even marvel did it – they used to publish
a humour magazine called CRAZY and one feature
was reprinted marvel stories with batty new word
balloons.
Dang it. I meant “a Spider-man fan.”
Sometimes, I wish I was a Spider-man from the ’90s. I am really digging the art from that Annual.
@themanofbat, nice example…it’s a little more subtle though when compared to the revision Bertone posted which is outright unexplainable given BND…but that’s just my opinion…I’ll wait for the remaining 198 😉
For some of these MJ moments, there are potential work-arounds…just saying she’s ‘pretending’ not to know is one…obviously you can’t say that for her introspections…
@ TMOB Talk about about BIAS. Your literally telling someone to ignore continuity flaws.
This is exactly like a math teacher telling a kid 2 +2 = 5 because they really like the number 5. Ignore what the equation really ever was.
Now that’s the real definition of “idiotic, biased, and childish”….
Honestly I expect better from you.
@Themanofbat,
I am aware of those. Check out one of my recent Spidey Memories..I post an MJ scene in ASM 156 where it seems she doesn’t know. These “revisions” are parodies and not meant to be taken seriously. That said, if you don’t like them, then I can’t convince you to change your mind.
Man I’ve missed these.
@ DocF, Off the top of my head, there’s the scene in MTU #20 where MJ sneaks beyond the police barricade because she thinks Peter is in there taking pictures of Spdier-Man… now why would she think that? And then there’s the 3rd Vulture story circa ASM #127 & 128, where she’s scared to death of the “new” Vulture because she was a witness to his committing a murder, but refuses to go to the police (at Peter’s request) and then kicks him out because “he wouldn’t understand”…. seriously?
Ok… 2 down, at least 198 to go… give me time…
🙂
@themanofbat, you should do that, that is, ‘find hundreds of scenes that make ya wonder “how does this scene work if MJ really knows Peter is Spider-Man”’…no one’s saying that isn’t worth discussing too…but BND was a colossal paradigm shift in the spiderverse, that made a huge portion of spider-history different…really different…there’s always been continuity flubs, but the removal of the marriage created more than any one single event (especially since the pregnancy went with it!), so that’s where fans will place their focus…
@Bertone, i think these are genius, non-biased, and mature, so pls keep em up! 😉
Awww.. be nice..just a little fun…laughing with the ulcer rather than at it…… JQ will continue to do what he wishes, lifer fans be darned….might as well get in a few licks of an innocuous nature:)
I think they’re idiotic, biased and childish….
I could find hundreds of scenes that make me wonder “how does this scene work if MJ really knows Peter is Spider-Man”, but I neither have access to a cool Spider-Man site nor the technological background to make such “funny” pictures….
But if I did that, I would be seen as one of JQ’s bend-over kids by all the really cool Spider-Man Fan kids…
These revisions are always a guilty pleasure. Thanks Bertone.
