  1. @Aqu@ I think ASM lost much of the luster it once had. After slotts 10 year tenure that was (almost practically) reconned within a year, the pressure from fans about OMD, what we all believe happened with Spencer final issue (éditorial mandate to not bring Pete and MJ formally back)… Any writer would feel like they would be boxed in and can’t write the story they want.

    Beside, the big guys are the avengers now. Spidey is almost a second rate character nowadays…

  2. I have to say, for being one who cares little for these kind of anniversaries (for series), I was a little let down with what they had announced so far considering how big a number 60 is.
    This is more like it, and I’m eager to see what Hickman has in store for us.
    @Geiseric
    Probably both.
    @Joey Z
    They said “many more”, so they may still be in it, just not advertised. That said, you have a point.

    Would it be possible this is just an attempt to see which new author (to Spider-Man) goes well enough to take the helm of the main title after Wells? I mean, it’s hard to think they’d be struggling to find writers for the book of the most iconic Marvel hero, unless something happened which we don’t know (like, behind the scenes) that made the book “radioactive” (pun intended) in the industry.
    Does anyone else have an hunch like this? Am I reading too much in it? (Yes, I am.)

  3. Wait, Dan Slott is writing a story that explores Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson’s relationship? Oh dear…

  4. No Roger Stern. No JM DeMatteis. No Tom DeFalco. No Howard Mackie. No Paul Jenkins. No Peter David. No Gerry Conway. No JMS. No Roy Thomas. No David Michelinie.

    Dan Slott, though. He’s a legend worthy of a return in this once in a lifetime anniversary issue.

  5. So either this weird new SQ is a bait and switch, or they really want to have their cake and eat it to with Peter/MJ
