When Aunt May knocked out Spidey, he specifically said (or thought) that of course his spider-sense wouldn’t warn him because he didn’t consider Aunt May a threat. The character/story went out of its way to explain to the reader why his spider-sense didn’t warn him.
@Hornacek – I remember that story, though I hadn’t realized it was the very same writer. I knew the spider-sense was inconsistent among the different writers, but not within-writer, too. You’d think there would be some kind of editorial meeting to discuss matters like this to be sure everyone was on the same page, so to speak. This was 1990, so I guess some things never change.
Yeah, Peter’s spider-sense should not have been set off here. Conway literally wrote a story where Aunt May hit Spidey with a vase (from behind) and his spider-sense did not go off because it does not treat Aunt May as a threat.
I’m surprised Mary Jane would trigger Peter’s spider-sense. I hope she’s not the Chameleon in disguise…talking about peaches…Nevermind, probably not.
