Hello from San Diego Comic Con 2023! This is Sara Pezel with some updates about this years SDCC!
This year there has been some great Spider-man cosplay at SDCC. Below are some pictures of some cosplayers I’ve come across in the last two days. From the spider-verse we see Spider-Punk, Scarlet Spider, and The Spot.
On Friday of SDCC John Semper held a spotlight panel about his life and work. Some of my favorite moments were when John talked about his love for Peter Parker, his relationship with Stan Lee, and the 90’s Spider-man animated series. Here is John talking about his love for Peter Parker.
Below is John talking about his relationship with Stan Lee. He begins by reading a letter given to him by Stan to request a meeting. John also talks about the support that Stan gave to him.
John also talks about his time working on Spider-man: The Animated Series. Below is a video from the panel where he reminisces about times with Stan Lee and the other writers as he shares photos from their time together.
John also discusses how he created the Spider-Verse and his thoughts on the new Miles Morales movie.
At the end of the panel we even heard from Mary Jane from the animated series!
And below we have a reunion of writers!
On Thursday, during the hall H panel about the upcoming game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a new trailer was released that includes Harry Osborn, Kraven the Hunter, and the alien Symbiote. Watch the trailer below:
Harry is revealed as Venom and we see some other changes like in Peter’s face and Mile’s hairstyle. During the panel the web wings and web swinging mechanics were discussed. These features allow for easy travel in Brooklyn, Queens, and other areas with lower buildings.
The panelists also talked about the symbiote and how that affects the gameplay and the character as they wear it. Including the savage nature of the attacks while wearing the symbiote and also how the symbiote changes the person that wears it. Jokingly, Yuri Lowenthow said, “I think the symbiote makes Peter a better Spider-man.”
See you soon for the next update!
