Uncle Rog may never have “got” the appeal of the marriage, but he sure knew how to make MJ appealing (and even wrote well for the marraige when he had to)
I liked how, even though Bill Mantlo was the PPSSM writer, Roger Stern co-wrote this issue since Hobgoblin appeared in it. This was only his fifth appearance (after ASM 238-239 and 244-245).
I have no proof of this, but I have a strong memory of reading an article/blurb at the time (maybe in Marvel Age?) that the HG’s identity was supposed to be revealed in PPSSM #85. It’s possible this never happened and I have convinced myself over the years that it did.
Peter in suspenders and a bowtie is definitely a look.
