In this issue, the creative team used a running joke about the villains not knowing who Spider-Woman was… at first, she was offended, but then she quickly realized that maybe things are better off with them not exactly knowing. But, with this brand of action-packed storytelling, very soon Spider-Woman will reclaim her throne as a household name. I believe this was yet another chance to showcase not only the likeability and charisma of Spider-Woman as a character, but also her fighting skills as well. The previews were already bragging early on about a very long, and intense action sequence that would last the whole issue… and the Marvel team truly delivered on this promise. This continues to be one of my favorite titles in the current line-up of Spidey books, and I pray we get more Spider-Woman content in the many years to come.

THE MOST ACTION-PACKED SPIDER-WOMAN ISSUE YET!
- A who’s who of Marvel Mercenaries want something that Jess has (and NEEDS), so Jess has to fight Lady Bullseye and more to secure this treasured possession.
- This fight will take Jess across NYC in the most intense, issue-long action sequence you’ve ever read!
BLOCKBUSTER ACTION!
PROS:
- The entire issue played out like a gauntlet match, where Spider-Woman would have to face one enemy after another, constantly chasing them to get back her treasured information and data from High Evolutionary. The chase started with Fireball attacking her house, and immediately, the chemistry between the two was strong in the Force. Fireball would insult Spider-Woman and her baby, and Spider-Woman would, in turn, fire right back. The exchange was awesome and wildly entertaining.
- The next step, the next block on the road, the next hurdle in the way was Bruiser, and boy did this live up to the hype! Whereas Spider-Woman had to face a faster, quicker, more agile and ninja-like Fireball in the beginning, combating Bruiser was a whole different animal, and it made for some rampaging action. They also traveled a far distance, forcing Spider-Woman to go to a certain place, to her dismay. All modes of transportation were used in this chase… even freakin’ monster trucks! What more can a comic book reader possibly ask for?
- Spider-Woman finally met up with her old friend and close pal Lady Bullseye, and the back-and-forth, both in the quips, or the constant trash-talking, and the high-level martial arts action as well kept me glued to every page.
- The Spider-Man books are apparently getting better and better with their endings and cliffhangers. I will choose to not spoil the big reveal here in my review, but it was an interesting twist and turn that concluded the one-issue long chase scene.
- All in all, the writing mixed perfectly with the art in delivering a Hollywood Blockbuster story that would even make Michael Bay proud. Every moment was well plotted out, and there was no dead air, or wasted space during the entire chapter.
- I am hoping that we get to see Fireball, Bruiser and Lady Bullseye together, working as a team to take on Spider-Woman. And I would be even more overwhelmed with joy if more issues come out within the span of the month… but of course, quality should still be prioritized over quantity. And quality is exactly what we are getting with titles like Spider-Woman.
CONS:
- You have to be in shape if you want to keep up with all the action. I was losing my breath at many points during the sequence!
- Some of Spider-Woman’s jokes, as pointed out by the villains, are a bit cringe at times, but at the end of the day, it is a necessary evil. I mean… she did learn from the best, after all.
FINAL GRADE: A+
This is another masterpiece of an issue, and it just makes me so giddy inside knowing that there are so many quality Spidey books available for any and all readers. This year has been good for Marvel fans, but maybe not so good for Spider-Woman, after losing her romantic relationship and now having to discover that *SECRET* was behind the entire caper. It’s going to feel like a long wait as we anticipate the follow-up installment.
This issue marks Lindsay McCabe’s first appearance back in comics since 1996 (outside a one page flashback in 2013), which was a Spider-Woman one shot written by Mark Gruenwald in the back of Sensational Spider-Man Annual ’96.
