  1. I figure Ditko for your basic curmudgeon. I wonder if the Objectivism caused that, or amplified it.

This is twice in as many days as I’ve mentioned this podcast, but on the ASM Classics episode covering ASM #39 they spend a lot of time talking about how everybody gets a lot nicer now that Ditko is off the book. It’s really jarring going from #38 to #39 where Flash, Harry, Gwen, and especially Peter were rude, but post-Ditko they’re all either apologizing or thinking “Hey, X is acting differently now, maybe I was wrong about them.”

  3. Ditko’s version of Peter Parker was a real smart-mouth. A mixture of editorial admiration, self-pity, and the needless needling of other people. I think this version of Peter pretty much evaporated as soon as Ditko left the series. However, it makes me see again how totally out-of-whack-with-history Slott’s weak, bungling version of Peter was.
