@Adam — I hope that time comes back again. I’ve heard people say something along the lines of “It’s a different world now.” I must say I love going to the bookstore and having so much space to myself, and it’s nice to slow down and to hear the birds chirping, but is the world forever changed? I’m not so sure. Whereas initially I could sense people eyeing each other suspiciously as they were careful to maintain their distance, I can see the need for company and companionship emerging, and I think that need will ultimately prove stronger than paranoia and suspicion. Even if it’s still a while before loved ones can hold hands or touch each other’s faces, I have to believe that the day is coming when things will go back to normal, though hopefully we will all have grown a bit wiser and more compassionate as a result. Maybe in that regard, the world truly will be different — better.
