@Hornacek — I appreciate that. I think panels like the one above — that illustrate so well that even a gift and responsibility, for all its rewards, has costs, as well — are what make Spider-man so relatable and inspiring.
@William Sinclair — I agree completely. I think that is something that the ’90s animated series captured well, too. To me, Spider-man 2 was more about Peter than Spider-man, and that was beautiful to me.
I actually know someone who’s said they thought Spider-Man 2 had Peter really ‘out of character’ for being so resentful of being Spider-Man. I think if he read the comics and saw the sheer amount of times Peter has scenes like this, he might go back on that statement.

When Spider-man 2 was released I had a girlfriend at the time who said she hated it because Peter whined and complained all the time about not being able to have a normal life.
That relationship didn’t last.
