  1. This panel taken out of context is misleading. After this moment, MJ talks to Peter and he finally tells her why he became Spider-Man, i.e. letting Uncle Ben down. In fact for this issue, they actually reprinted AF#15 fully in the pages right after this, the first time it’s been done (the usual strategy before was to redraw the origin which Romita Sr. had done, Pollard-Wolfman had done and so on).

    It actually deepens their relationship and bond

  2. Peter being way too emo and melodramatic for my liking here. Nice guilt trip you’re laying there, Pete.

    I love this era of Spidey, but there’s some ridiculous moments that make me shake my head a bit in retrospect.
