Counterpoint – Beetle was a “B+” rank villain for many years!
– Diverse power-set (Flight, Super Strength, Energy Blasts, Suction Grip)
– Battled at least Spidey, Human Torch, and Iron Man over the decades since the 60’s
– Got his traditional armor in the 70’s, around the time he blackmailed Ringer to fight Spidey, so he could study our hero’s fighting technique
– Lead the Sinister Syndicate (which had a fearsome first appearance in the 80’s, and later a fun mini series in ‘Deadly Foes’; the latter run of which fell apart because of Boomerang’s incompetence, not necessarily the Beetle’s leadership)
– Was kinda a ‘blue collar’ villain, that was frequently portrayed as struggling to pay bills or get ahead when he wasn’t being a boss adversary
Also to the other comments, Beetle was seen sporadically after the Lethal Foes mini through the Clone Saga, before the Thunderbolts took him on. While I love what happened with him through Thunderbolts, I do miss ol’ Abner Jenkins as a foe for Spidey.
