@William – Holy crap, you’re right – I just read the issue summary at Spider-Fan.org. No idea there was another Vulture who mutated into Adrian Toomes’ form. The Conway/Wein era (besides the Clone Saga issues) are a blind spot in my ASM knowledge.
This was without a doubt the craziest Vulture story, mostly because it wasn’t even the Vulture, but some professor who had a machine that mutated him into a Vulture duplicate! It was quite surreal reading the story and gradually discovering the lunacy behind it.
Years later, in Funeral Arrangements, when the Vulture went to Aunt May’s house to apologize to her for killing Nathan, maybe he should have also said “Oh, I’m sorry about trying to kill your nephew that one time as well.”
