Reading moments like this really emphasises to me just how well her later-revealed backstory fits with what we saw from MJ prior, considering what happened to her mother, of course she’s going to have words of wisdom about this. A ret-con that’s actually well thought out and complements what came before?! How is that possible?! This kind of consistency really helps MJ feel more fleshed out than the standard comic book love interest.
