Spider-Tracer: Marvel Legends Spider-Verse/Geddon Wishlist

If you’ve been collecting the long-running toy line Marvel Legends for the past three to four years, you’ve no doubt noticed the multitude of alternate Spider-Men and Spider-Women that Hasbro has been releasing. Thanks to the 2014 event, “Spider-Verse”, we’ve been getting more and more of these alternate takes on our favorite Web-Head. Characters like Spider-Gwen, SP//dr, Spider-Ham, and even Spider-Man Noir have finally gotten action figures. Yet, here we are four years later with the “Spider-Verse” sequel “Spider-Geddon” ready to hit, and there’s still several alternate takes on Spider-Man that we’re still in dire need of in our collections.

For this month’s Spider-Tracer article, we’ll be taking a look at the top ten most wanted alternate universe Spider-Man Marvel Legends figures, while I also give you a little background on each of them. I will be excluding any Spider-Men simply wearing alternate costumes that Earth-616 Spider-Man (the prime Spider-Man) wore, which means no Iron Spider or Spider-Armor (you know, the shiny silver one).

  1. Spider-Man India

Our first alternate Spider-Man is none other than Spider-Man: India, whose real name is Pavitr Prabhakar. Pavitr hails from Earth-50101 and is, as his name would suggest, an Indian version of our typical Earth-616 Spider-Man. Pavitr is granted his powers by a yogi to combat invading demons, which is quite a big difference compared to regular Peter Parker’s origin. However, much like Peter, Pavitr avoids using his powers responsibly, resulting in the death of his beloved Uncle Bhim. Pavitr then decided to take the path of a hero, and has been using his powers responsibly ever since, much like the Spider-Man we all know and love.

Spider-Man India is an essential character to any alternate universe Spider-Man display, and is the last Web-Warrior in need of a figure. He’d be easy for Hasbro to make; they could simply reuse their upper torso first introduced with the Pizza Spider-Man body back in 2015’s Hobgoblin Build-a-Figure Series and would just require a new lower torso. Spider-Man India first appeared in “Spider-Man: India” #1 in 2004.

  1. Assassin Spider-Man

Assassin Spider-Man comes from Earth-8351, and is sporting what I feel is a very cool costume that would translate quite well into figure form. First Appearing in “What If… Spider-Man vs Wolverine” #1 in 2008, this alternate Peter Parker’s history remained the same up until the 1987’s “Spider-Man vs Wolverine”. Instead of returning to the United States, Spidey stays in Europe and becomes a top level assassin alongside Wolverine.

While it sounds a little weird, there’s no denying the cool factor of being able to spray webs AND bullets out of his web-shooters! Sadly, Assassin Spider-Man didn’t make it out of “Spider-Verse” alive. Assassin Spider-Man would simply require new head and belt sculpts, while the rest of him could be an easy repaint of the aforementioned Pizza Spider-Man body.

  1. Spider-Man ‘67

That’s right, the beloved 60’s cartoon Spider-Man. This guy was content battling street level villains as well as psychedelic, cosmic ones. And c’mon, there’s no forgetting his ever-catchy theme song. This Spider-Man is appropriately from Earth-67, and made his comic debut in “Amazing-Spider-Man” Volume 3, #9, which was a “Spider-Verse” tie-in issue.

Spider-Man ’67 would be an easy repaint of the Pizza Spidey body, however, I’d have to suggest Hasbro give him at least three newly sculpted alternate heads for those crazy expressions he was always known for. Maybe give him a wide-eyed head, a narrow-eyed head, and a classic Peter Parker head with a mask to hold in the shape of the Sorting Hat. This would just be a very fun figure to have. I mean, just imagine posing him to look like he’s punching at thin air, when in fact, he’d be fighting that dastardly Noah Body. You know you’d buy one.

  1. Spiderling/ Annie Parker

This daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson-Parker lives on Earth-18119, and first appeared in “Amazing Spider-Man: Renew your Vows” #1. I really like the color scheme Annie sports and Hasbro could easily make her on the teen girl base body they’ve used on characters like Jubilee and Spider-Girl, along with a few obvious new parts, as well. Annie would make a stand out character on any Spider-Man fan’s shelf. Ahh, but where would Annie be without…

  1. Spinneret/Mary Jane Watson-Parker

You can’t have an Annie figure without her mother, Mary Jane. This Mary Jane first appeared alongside her daughter in the same issue. I think both of these characters would look great in a 2-pack together. This Mary Jane uses the Regent’s technology to copy her husband Peter’s powers, thus allowing them to become a crime-fighting trio with their daughter Annie. How cool is that? Plus, it looks like Spinneret will be playing a role in Spider-Geddon if the upcoming covers are any indication. I’d say the time for her to get a figure couldn’t be more perfect. They could probably make her on the new Psylocke body for extra added range of motion.

  1. Six-Armed Spider-Man

What if Spider-Man had kept those six arms he had first gotten at the end of “Amazing Spider-Man” #100? That’s exactly the question posed in “What If…?” Volume 2, #42 (1992). This Spider-Man is from Earth-92100, and there is no denying how cool this would look as a modern Marvel Legends figure. I have fond memories of this guy from the 5” ToyBiz days and he’s one of those characters I’ve wanted to see get a figure for a while. Hasbro would undoubtedly have to make a new torso to accommodate the additional limbs, but they could reuse the limbs from the Pizza Spider-Man figure. It’d be even cooler if it led to a bare-armed repaint to recreate that classic moment when Earth-616 Spider-Man had his additional arms. Sadly, this alternate universe Spider-Man didn’t make it out of “Spider-Verse” either.

  1. Earth-X Venom

I always thought this was a cool character design ever since I first read “Earth-X” many years ago. A native to Earth-9997 and first appearing in “Earth-X” #1, Spider-Man’s daughter May Parker becomes the new Venom after the vengeful symbiote sought to control and use Peter’s daughter against him; however, her Spider-Sense was somehow able to override its control. Why this version of May was given only a brief cameo in “Spider-Verse” I can’t say, but that doesn’t lessen my desire to see her get her due in the Marvel Legends line. In fact, this figure could utilize the same body as most teen females in the line get. C’Mon, Hasbro, you know she’d make a cool figure!

  1. 1602 Spider-Man

This Spider-Man has the unfortunate designation of being the first Spider-Man killed in “Spider-Verse”, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t still make for a cool figure. The odds are stacked against Earth-311’s Peter Parquagh, considering he would need a unique, most likely one-time use body sculpt, but let’s not hold that against him. While this Peter first appeared in “Marvel: 1602” #1, he wouldn’t become “The Spider” until “Marvel 1602: New World” #4. The spider that bit this Peter had been exposed to temporal energy before biting and bestowing its power upon him. Also, note the unique eyes on this character. Considering he’s from the year 1602 on his world, it makes sense that he wouldn’t have special lenses for eyes. I’d be lying if I said the mask didn’t remind me of a cheap Halloween mask from our time, but that’s part of its charm.

  1. Lady Spider/May Reilly

Another character in need of a unique body mold, Lady Spider’s prominent role in the “Spider-Verse” cross-over should guarantee her a figure anyway. Earth-803’s Lady Spider first appeared in “Spider-Verse” #1, which saw her from a world with a heavy steampunk theme. May also has the distinction of not being a Spider-Totem, considering she has no actual powers (even if she was bitten by a spider). However, much like the Spider-Man we all know and love, she’s an inventor, having created her robotic legs for climbing, as well as her web-shooters.

  1. Spider-Monkey

This character’s name and appearance should be enough to guarantee him a figure, as well as cause you to want him in figure form, but just in case that’s not enough, allow me tell you just a little bit about this spidery simian. Earth-8101’s Spider-Monkey first appeared in “Amazing Spider-Man Family”#1. And just when you thought Assassin Spider-Man was tough, this Spider-Totem has no problem killing villains who refuse to reform and turn away from crime; he, along with his fellow Ape-Vengers, beat Doctor Ooktavius to death. His lethal ways, however, weren’t enough to save him from the events of “Spider-Verse”. While Spider-Monkey would require a completely brand new body mold, let’s hope he’s not as under-articulated as the recent Spider-Ham figure. So yeah. Spider-Monkey. Make it happen, Hasbro!

  1. Old Man Spider/Ezekiel Sims

While this guy would definitely require some new tooling, he could reuse much of the AIM Soldier figure’s body, which was recently seen on the Spider-Man Noir figure (another fine addition to the alternate universe Spider-Man figure ranks; if you haven’t already, be sure to check out my review of him on this very site– Love-a-Plug Bill). We first caught a glimpse of this Spider-Man in “Amazing Spider-Man” #500, with an old Spider-Man on the run from the law. We later find out that this Earth-312500 Spider-Man ended up killing Kraven the Hunter at the conclusion of the “Grim Hunt” story-line and his life took a downward spiral ever since.

During the “Spider-Verse” event in “Edge of Spider-Verse” #5, we first meet an alternate universe Ezekiel Sims from Earth-4 sporting this look. He adopted the look after his world’s Peter died fighting Morlun. I think were we to get a figure of this Spider-Man, he should come with both an unmasked Ezekiel head, as well as an old Peter Parker head. It’s only fitting, no?
