I think it was this panel that started cementing the Goblin as Spidey’s greatest enemy. Even though other villains
had previously had victories against him (and the Goblin’s victory here wasn’t entirely earned since Spider-Man only ran away during their fight after hearing about Aunt May being ill), seeing the other villains talk in envy of just how thoroughly the Goblin beat the wall-crawler probably bumped his villain-cred up a few notches in the eyes of the readers. It helps that Doc Ock and Vulture are the ones who seem particularly annoyed, they were the two villains who previously seemed to have the most claim to being Spider-Man’s archenemy.
