Panel(s) of the Day #67 (Mary Jane Monday!)

The song appeared on the album Kung Fu Fighting and Other Great Love Songs, so maybe MJ is onto something there! Although, I’m sure it would have been even more puzzling to Peter if they were playing something like “The Hustle” or “Low Rider”.

  1. @hornacek: That quote sounds familiar. In ASM 428, she says this: “To someone who loves you as madly as I do, they’re ALL our songs!”

  2. This was mentioned in a Bertone-era Spider-Jeopardy, that there have been different “our song”s mentioned by MJ over the years. Either Josh made it up, or MJ actually said it, but Josh said that according to MJ, “Whatever song is playing when we’re dancing, that’s OUR song.”

  3. @Mark: There are two other instances I can think of. When they first meet, there’s a band playing on TV, but the song isn’t named. Then there’s an issue in DeFalco’s ’90s ASM run where they’re at a toga party and “In the Navy” is playing.

  4. I’ve always loved that “Everybody’s Kung Fu Fighting” is their love song, but I have heard other people say that she has referred to other songs also as their love song. I don’t remember any of them, though.
