Who knew that Aunt May could be such a bad ass? It’s stuff like this that shows that she can be way more than just a constant source of worry for Peter. (It’s a bit unfortunate that this kicks off ANOTHER “Aunt May in the hospital” subplot…)

I feel like there were a lot of attempts like this to make Aunt May an independent, endearing character in her own right, but the writers always seemed to fall back into the old hospital story-line where she’s just a plot device to make Peter feel bad (as if he doesn’t have ENOUGH to feel bad about!) Outside of a few stories here and there, I honestly didn’t start really liking her as a character until JMS let her discover Peter’s identity, thus making her someone who Peter could truly confide in and letting her take a more active role. The much sharper characterisation really helped, too.
Aunt May is technically assaulting a police officer. If this happened today, at the very least she’d be tased.
