I don’t care what anyone says… I LOVE Luke Ross’s art.
It’s really a shame that the Raimi films seem to have made people think of MJ as someone who needs saving every ten seconds. Even when the comic version does get kidnapped or attacked by a villain, she’ll usually still hold her ground and most likely be extremely badass doing it.
Aunt May got a similar moment of awesome when she tricked a disguised Chameleon into eating drugged cookies in Sensational Spider-Man Vol 2 #31. I think the Chameleon has to have some distinction for being the only supervillain to lose to both his greatest enemy’s (then) wife and aunt!
Ah, I remember doing an Overlooked Gems piece on this story a few months back. Very underrated and easily one of my favorite Chameleon stories. Also, anyone who wants to write Mary Jane Watson off as a mere damsel in distress needs to read this ASAP.
GO MJ, GO!!!! I LOVE how MJ played along with Chameleon charade, turning the tables and setting the trap on him! Kicked his ass, too!
