There’s a new web-swinging wonder in town!
Oh, so this is where the corner box to Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man comes from.
Spectacular Spider-Man Magazine (Vol. 1) #1
Published: c. May, 1968?
Cover Date: July, 1968
“In the Beginning–”
Writer: Stan Lee
Artist: Larry Lieber
Inker: Bill Everett
Letterer: Artie Simek
@Mets: After Ditko, I don’t think anyone ever made Peter look like a scrawny high school kid besides maybe Frenz and Oliffe.
@Brad: Thanks Brad. In hindsight it kinda makes sense that they would take something from the first “Spectacular” magazine to use for the actual ongoing.
I didn’t know about the corner box thing either and I own that mag. Great job as usual with the panels of the day.
Didn’t know about the corner box thing.
The image itself doesn’t make all that much sense from a narrative perspective (Peter looks older and more muscular than a high school kid. He usually avoids swinging in Forest Hills.)
