ISSUE #10 – CIVIL WAR VARIANT COVER BY TBA
• The 13th sign of the Zodiac is THE SPIDER?!?!?!
• Scorpio is on the verge of controlling the future and Spider-Man’s fight will take him on both sides of the English Channel.
• But when Scorpio compromises Parker Industries, what will this mean for Peter moving forward?!
32 PGS. (EACH)/Rated T …$3.99 (EACH)
BD Commentary: Let’s hope we’re near the end of this storyline about the globe trotting, Iron Man/ Bruce Way Spider-Man. As I’ve mentioned on the podcast, and the front page reviewers have said, this is so far away from the default Spider-Man we know and love that it’s almost a different character.
WEB-WARRIORS #6
MICHAEL COSTA (W)
DAVID BALDEON (A)
Cover by JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO
• With the threat of the ELECTROVERSE sated (for now), what’s an average day in the life of an interdimensional Spider-Man or Spider-Woman really like?
• Could it involve… MURDER?!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: This feel more like a mini-series than an ongoing. The first two issues were fun but can this series last with just different versions of Spidey fighting different versions of his villains. Who knows, 2099 worked for awhile.
SPIDER-MAN 2099 #9
PETER DAVID (W) • WILL SLINEY (A)
Cover by FRANCESCO MATTINA
• Miguel and Tempest – reunited! But Miguel isn’t about to get a happily ever after…
• The mysterious organization called FIST makes their next move, and Spider-Man 2099 gets a helping hand investigating what they’re up to.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary: Speaking of different versions of Spider-Man. This one is the book I look forward to each month. Peter David knocked it out of the park with the first issue of the all new series. I’m also interested to find out how Tempest is back with us and I wonder if Miguel will find out about his child?

• Miles finds himself face-to-face with his toughest villain yet- HIS GRANDMOTHER!!!
• And an Avengers-study session (date?) with Ms. Marvel goes horribly wrong!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary: My second favorite Spider-book of the month. It’ll be interesting to see how Miles and his family interact in the 616 universe. With our Peter Parker gone on globetrotting, out of character adventures, Miles fills the role well until Peter returns to NYC.

• The final battle with the villain whose power trumps death!
• You know their foe is dangerous if they have Spider-Man and the Santerians on the ropes!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary:The first two were really, really bad. Our front page reviewers gave them failing grades. It’ll be nice to end this one. It reminds me of the recent Marvel Knights Spider-Man that came out.
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #8
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (W) • MIKE DEODATo (A/C)

2015’s overnight internet sensation takes center stage in her own ongoing series! Gwen Poole used to be a comic book reader just like you…until she woke up in a world where the characters she read about seemed to be real! But they can’t be, right? This must all be fake, or a dream or something, right? And you know what that means…NO CONSEQUENCES! Could Gwenpool truly be Marvel’s least responsible and least role-modely character to date? She can if she tries!
40 PGS./Rated T …$4.99
BD Commentary: I’ve still not read the Gwenpool holiday special so I don’t know her origin. I can’t imagine the Gwen Stacy we all remember from the 1960s as ever becoming an assassin. But ,comics.

The Spider-Event of 2016 is here, bringing SPIDER-GWEN, SILK and SPIDER-WOMAN together for a story too big for any one of their books! Spider-Woman is taking a mentor-role with Silk and Spider-Gwen, and the three spider-heroes take a brunch break on Gwen’s Earth-65. 40 PGS./One-Shot/Rated T+ …$4.99
BD Commentary: We haven’t had a Spider-Man Alpha related book since the 1990s with Maximum Clonage. That’s not a book to model after. I enjoy all three of these characters, but it may be a bit much to add a fourth book to collect. But Marvel isn’t trying to save you money, it’s wanting to part you with it.

BD Commentary: Another Silk mini series? She’s time hopping again? Don’t you think they could of saved this mini for down the road when she’s not doing the same thing in her own book?
CARNAGE #7
GERRY CONWAY (W) • MIKE PERKINS (A)
Cover by MIKE DEL MUNDO
• Carnage has evolved to the next level and the world is in deep trouble.
• Powered up, Carnage has set his sights far wider than ever before and with this new power and his general psychopathic tendencies, the oceans are going to be red with blood.
• Can Man-Wolf, Toxin and crew possibly contain him?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: Conway is doing a great horror comic with Carnage. I’m digging the first few issues and I wonder how he’s able to evolve? I mean I thought he already did that by mending himself after the Sentry ripped him in half. Always good to see John Jameson and Eddie Brock in supporting roles too.
SPIDEY #5

• Spidey and Iron Man take on THE VULTURE!
• The most refreshing book in comics hits you right in the gut with this one!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary: Ha, Ha. Marvel made you buy issue one thinking it was set in the 616 universe or Earth Prime or Earth 1 or whatever. Well they hope they knocked your socks off with this incognito All ages book. I actually dug the first issue if you take it without 50 years of continuity, and the art was awesome!

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: This has been the most disappointing book for me with the relaunch. I’m not feeling the team or the direction.
VENOM: SPACE KNIGHT #6
ROBBIE THOMPSON (W) • ARIEL OLIVETTI (A/C)
CAN A SYMBIOTE TRULY CHANGE ITS INKY BLACKNESS?

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary:The first issue was better than I though it should be. The art is nice, but I just can’t see Flash in outer space. The concept, like All New Amazing Spider-Man feels wrong.

@17 – Yeah, because Marvel would never do anything to piss off its fan base.
@16- That would be a very stupid move on Marvel’s part. Mayday has a very large cult following, and taking her out would light up that fanbase and not impress anybody.
Also, anybody else worried by the fact Mayday consistently fails to appear on Web Warriors covers? Are they planning to get rid of her?
It’s probably worth noting that Gwenpool is not actually Gwen Stacy, but a girl named Gwen Poole from a universe where Marvel comics are works of fiction. So she’s got nothing really to do with Spider-Man. Quite a funny book, though.
Slott is to Spider-Man what “Moonraker” was to James Bond (and that’s an insult to the filmmakers of”Moonraker”).
I’ve said this before, but SPIDEY is one of the few books that feels like Spider-Man and I’ll be getting it for that. Miles Morales bores me to tears and has always struck me as redundant (Spider-Man should never have been a legacy character since Peter makes the engine run). It’s a little gross that Marvel is now grafting everything one associates with Peter in 616 onto their replacement character. The rest of the various titles don’t interest me much.
Happy reading everyone.
@#8: I believe it kinda does but also doesn’t they can be in proximity to one another and avoid the pheromones playing up.
@4
Hmm, what is this… SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY
“Beginning a complete collection of one of the most CELEBRATED eras in Spider-history!”
Marvel thinks that awful Brand New Day is one of the most celebrated eras? LOL.
Yes, I was thinking this too!!!
I’m glad I don’t have to wait long for the Carnage or Spidey/Deadpool trades. Any word on a “Spidey” trade?
@#8 – It’s been completely dropped in Silk. Cindy acts more like Peter’s an ex or a “nice guy” who’s interested in her with no mention of they were previously forced to make out and try and have sex with one another because of Spider-Pheremones. Probably for the best for both characters.
@2 – Don’t forget Alpha, the mini-series starring the new character everyone was talking about.
“Spider-Man & Silk have gone back in time … and accidentally stopped their own origins from happening!” I assume at the end of this mini they will go back in time again and make sure their origins do happen. I wonder if Marvel will use this opportunity to make some change so that Spidey and Silk do not get super-horny when they’re around each other. I’m sure (at least I hope) that Marvel wants to forget about that part of her origin. Does it even come up when Spidey appears in Silk’s series?
“Squirrel Girl is going to be facing off against SWARM, a bad guy made out of bees!” If you ever needed proof that Marvel’s solicitation department didn’t listen to the podcast, this is it. “bad guy”? “made out of”? Come on! Somewhere, Kevin is crying out in anguish.
“And in the ultimate nineties team-up, Spidey joins X-Force to battle the unstoppable Juggernaut!” I think the only thing this “ultimate team-up” is remembered for now is the panel where Juggernaut knocks over one of the World Trade Center towers and laughs.
Rather than making me buy more, Marvel’s crossovers make me skip issues. I won’t be picking up Spider-Woman this month. Zero faith in any Marvel event.
Oh great. The point issues are still coming out…
This is like the jelly of the month club. The gift that keeps on giving.
@4 – “Marvel thinks that awful Brand New Day is one of the most celebrated eras? LOL.”
But didn’t you read the rest of the solicitation? It contains the first appearances of the classic characters Screwball, Freak and Jackpot!
Spider-Man and Deadpool on a double date with Shiklah and FemThor? This is gonna be fun. I’m so buying this.
I’ll pick up SPIDEY too. And BD is right, it’s easy to enjoy SPIDEY is you take it without the continuty.
I’m gonna try reading the first issue of A YEAR OF MARVEL: THE AMAZING. If the Spider-Man story is good, then I’m all for spending $60 on it.
I’m looking forward to SPIDER-MAN 2099 #9 as well.
Hmm, what is this… SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY
“Beginning a complete collection of one of the most CELEBRATED eras in Spider-history!”
Marvel thinks that awful Brand New Day is one of the most celebrated eras? LOL.
I totally forgot about that. Good catch.
“BD Commentary: We haven’t had a Spider-Man Alpha related book since the 1990s with Maximum Clonage. That’s not a book to model after.”
There was Minimum Carnage Alpha and Omega. Minimum Carnage was terrible, by the way.
I love the little new things you guys do, with the Commentaries on Previews and the Reviews from the Web.
