• The first terrifying arc concludes catastrophically!
• What does the Darkhold Cult want with the Symbiote Psychopath?!

BD Commentary:I was pleasantly surprised with issued #1. I think I was the only person that liked the Darkhold book during the Midnight Sons.
SPIDER-MAN #1
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (w) • SARA PICHELLI (a/C)
Hip-hop variant COVER by Adi Granov
VARIANT COVER BY MICHAEL CHO
YOUNG VARIANT COVER BY SKOTTIE YOUNG
CLASSIC VARIANT COVER BY MARK BAGLEY
Miles Morales has been doing the super hero thing for a while, now, but after SECRET WARS, he’ll be a full-fledged member of the Marvel Universe. Swinging next to The Invincible Iron Man, The Mighty Thor and the All-New Captain America as a card-carrying member of the Avengers is an adventure, but it’s not all fun and games for New York City’s main Spider-MAN! What happened in the eight month gap? It all starts in SPIDER-MAN #1!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary: I loved this team together in the Ultimate universe, it’ll be fun to see if Miles can still keep his originality with so many Spider-People running around. It’s not in the images but I ig the old 1980s Spider-Man logo they’re using for this title.
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #6
BRIAN MICHAEL BENDIS (W) • MIKE DEODATO (A/C)

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: It’ll be interesting to see how Mary Jane works in this book. It’s been a long, long time since Mary Jane was front and center on the cover of a comic.
DEADPOOL & THE MERCS FOR MONEY #1 (of 5)
Cullen Bunn (w) • Salvador Espin (a)
Cover by DECLAN SHALVEY
ACTION FIGURE VARIANT COVER BY JOHN TYLER CHRISTOPHER

HIP-HOP VARIANT COVER BY TBA
VARIANT COVER BY RON LIM
Deadpool might be an Avenger now, but he’s also got his own private team of mercenaries…the legally-cleared-to-be-called MERCS FOR MONEY! Got a problem you can’t solve on your own and a pile of money you’d like to be rid of? Just call Deadpool, Stingray, Massacre, Solo, Foolkiller, Terror and Slapstick and watch as that problem is shot, stabbed, eviscerated, pulverized and generally made bloody!
32 PGS./Parental Advisory …$3.99
BD Commentary:I highlighted this title because “Massacre” is in this book. Last we saw him “Spock” killed him. Do you think Peter Parker will finally feel guilt for killing this man? There’s also Solo in this book who appeared in many 1990’s Spider-Man comics.
SPIDEY #3
ROBBIE THOMPSON (W) • NICK BRADSHAW (A/C)
VARIANT COVER BY TBA
IN THE JAWS OF THE LIZARD!
• As Peter Parker finds his footing at school and with GWEN STACY…
• …SPIDER-MAN finds himself face-to-face with the LIZARD!
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary:I’m not really demanding any “lost” Spidey tales set in high school, but the art sure looks great on this one.
WEB-WARRIORS #4
MICHAEL COSTA (W) • DAVID BALDEON (A)
Cover by JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO
• The WEB-WARRIORS have to call in backup after the Electros launch an all-out siege on Earth-001!
• Featuring two titanic guest stars straight out of SPIDER-VERSE!
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary:The first issue was average on this one. It’ll be interesting to see if this title becomes more than just multiple versions of Spidey, fighting multiple versions of his enemies.
SPIDER-WOMAN #4
DENNIS HOPELESS (W) • JAVIER RODRIGUEZ (A/C)
• Trapped in an alien hospital with a bunch of pregnant extraterrestrials, Jess has no choice but to stick it to the Skrulls.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary:The preview in Amazing Spider-Man #1 was really good. I also dug the previous version of this title. I don’t know what I think of a pregnant superhero fighting, but I’ll admit it’s something I haven’t see addressed in a comic before.
SILK #4 & 5
ROBBIE THOMPSON (W) • VERONICA FISH (A)
Cover by HELEN CHEN
• The mysterious ESPECTRO enters Cindy’s life for the second time.
• Who is he? Does he know where her family is? What is his connection to SILK’s?!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)
BD Commentary:I dug the first volume, which I was amazed after I hated her debut under Slott’s run. Her teaming up with the Black Cat should be interesting.
SPIDER-GWEN #5
JASON LATOUR (W) • ROBBI RODRIGUEZ (A/C)
VARIANT COVER BY MICHAEL CHO
• Captain George Stacy has always been a big force in Spider-Gwen’s life.
• But knowing that his daughter is the Spider-hero swinging around the city has taken its toll on him. Can he come to grips with the knowledge?
• Can she handle her police captain father if he can’t?
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99
BD Commentary: What is it about Spider-Gwen that makes her popular. I’d say it’s 80 % art and 20% story. Her hopping around with wise cracks just doesn’t feel right to me.
SPIDER-MAN 2099 #6 & 7
PETER DAVID (W) • WILL SLINEY (A)
Cover by FRANCESCO MATTINA
• Miguel O’Hara’s crusade against the mysterious organization called FIST continues!
• But there’s trouble in New York when the Inhuman LASH (y’know, the one from a little show called Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) arrives AND PUTS MIGUEL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INHUMAN CONFLICT!
32 PGS. (each)/Rated T …$3.99 (each)
BD Commentary: The first two issues were the best Spider-Comics of the month. Peter David knocked those two out of the park in my opinion and I hope that same quality continues.
ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT AVENGERS #5
MARK WAID (W) • MAHMUD ASRAR (A)
Cover by ALEX ROSS
VARIANT COVER BY MICHAEL CHO
• Seven minus one equals tragedy! It’s been Ms. Marvel’s dream to be an Avenger – so why would they throw her off the team? What has she done – and will she recover?
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
ALL-NEW, ALL-DIFFERENT AVENGERS #6
MARK WAID (W) • MAHMUD ASRAR (A)
Cover by ALEX ROSS
• The villain pulling the Avengers’ strings stands revealed – someone who’s been a part of Avengers history for almost all of the team’s existence, in a way you’ve never seen them before! The All-New, All-Different Avengers’ first story arc ends here – and you won’t guess who’s left standing on the last page.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: I wasn’t that impressed with the first issue of this series. I wonder if Miles will have a similar role that Peter did on Avengers. Just there to be on the cover to sell books and appear in a few panels.
VENOM: SPACE KNIGHT #4
Robbie Thompson (W) • ARIEL OLIVETTI (A)
VARIANT COVER BY MICHAEL CHO
VARIANT COVER BY Sal Buscema
GUARDIAN BECOMES GLADIATOR!
• Venom finally meets some aliens who don’t need his help!
• They just want him to FIGHT ’til he BLEEDS in their COMBAT ARENA!!!
• And in a turn of similar luck, the notorious, vicious PIK ROLLO finally catches up to Venom and 803.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99
BD Commentary: I dig the art, but not the concept. I really am starting to miss the classic Venom.
MARVEL UNIVERSE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN SPIDER-VERSE #4 (OF 4)

BD Commentary: CBR recommends this title, it’s right on the cover! The Crawlspace says, “It’s a bloated crossover, where our hero takes a backseat to multiple versions of himself.”
@11 – Yeah, but if you add Busiek’s UToSM issues to the established continuity, nothing in it disrupts or contradicts the Lee/Ditko issues. Learning to Crawl does that a bunch of times, the most egregious example being “Hey, remember ASM #3 when Spidey was so distraught about the first time he was defeated and he almost gave up being Spidey forever? Yeah, he had already been defeated earlier by another villain you never heard of before. Enjoy!”
Marvel is notorious for not remembering their own continuity i.e. saying Peter and MJ went to high school together, or that the alien costume made Peter evil (I could understand these errors in the pre-internet days, but seriously, use Wikipedia guys). So it wouldn’t surprise me if Spidey had Peter and Gwen in high school together. This is the first I’ve heard of this, so hopefully Thompson will be better than that and maybe have Gwen and her school visit Peter’s school as part of an exchange program and they never actually meet. Or maybe both schools are on a field trip to the same location and they keep almost-but-not-quite meeting each other?
@#8: Sure, but Busieck did that too. It’s one thing telling an untold tale inbetween the gaps, it’s another pasting over established stuff.
@#10: I know…but that I think we can all agree is several miles away from having the audacity to outright say Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker knew one another in High school, thus rewriting the Master Planner trilogy itself.
@8 – Yes, he respects the Lee/Dtiko ASM #3 story so much, where Spidey laments that it was the first time he was beaten by a foe, that he wrote a mini-series where he suffers a defeat before that story takes place.
These are all Brad! 😎 Thing is, it was easy enough for him to remember the ‘It’s a bloated crossover, where our hero takes a backseat to multiple versions of himself’ line because we said it a lot!
@6–yes, he respects the Ditko era so much that he wrote his own mini with a made up villain that’s supposed to fit in between issues of the Lee / Ditko continuity.
Fantastic cover for AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #8 of Peter ripping open his suit to reveal the costume (Hey Dan Slott, how about including that image in the book every issue or two)?
SPIDEY is one of the only titles I’ll be reading. The art looks great, and I personally dig Petey in High School. So there. 😉
Bendis please please please don’t do anything to mess with MJ
BD wasn’t she front and centre in RYV?
So Spider-Man is going to get inverted and go evil. I’m guessing this will play into his company failing somehow…and also rip off Darkest Hours…and the 90s cartoon symbiote storyline.
I hope the Massacre thing is addressed somehow and not something to do with a reboot of the universe.
Similarly I hope the fact that Gwen is at High school with Peter isn’t a sign of a reboot because Gwen was never in High school with Peter.
Frankly lets all agree that if Spidey contradicts Ditko stories then it isn’t canon, at least until something from it makes it way into the modern books. I think if Slott is calling the shots he would not approve of rewriting Ditko classics, because say what you will, Slott respects that stuff for the most part.
Oh, so 2099 has stopped being dragged down by events but now is being used to shell out MCU Tv show characters. Wonderful.
@4 – Credit where credit is due. I was inspired by Brad (possibly ghost-written by George).
@2- I’m sorry, I just had to. You have inspired me, hornacek.
@#2
Great minds think alike…
ASM: “Things get even worse as Mister Negative inverts Peter Parker himself!” So he changes to a nice guy who remembers responsibility?
Web-Warriors: “Featuring two titanic guest stars straight out of SPIDER-VERSE” – Isn’t every character in this book straight out of Spider-Verse?
Spider-Verse TPB: “The Crawlspace says, ‘It’s a bloated crossover, where our hero takes a backseat to multiple versions of himself.'” Are we sure it’s Brad writing this commentary and not George?
I can’t wait to get the bulls*** version of why MJ’s suddenly a supporting character in Iron Man. And why is Spider-Gwen so popular? I’m guessing it’s because it’s Gwen Stacy. Am I the only person in the world that doesn’t care about that girl?
