Director, screenwriter and Dr. Strange superfan Drew “F–k you, Magic Tricks!” Goddard thinks he could deliver a Sinister Six movie with Disney/Marvel/Sony. He recently spoke to iO9 about the possibility:
“My vision of that movie was a summer annual. So you didn’t have to worry about continuity. It was just, ‘We take Peter, put him on an adventure, we put him back in his life.’ I intentionally wanted a movie that didn’t have to worry about mythology and continuity. It was important to me to make a movie that could stand on its own. So the good news is, you know, [laughs], it slots in very well to any plan anybody ever wants. We just need to let a couple years go by, I think.”

“The tricky part about all this is I love this plan. I love that you get to see Spider-Man in Marvel movies. I think that’s a great thing. I’m on board with that decision because as a fan that’s what I want. So who knows what the future holds? This is Hollywood, man, you’ve gotta play the long game.”
At one point Goddard left the Netflix Daredevil series to helm the Sinister Six movie for Sony – something which almost sparked Marvel to pursue litigation. But with Ike Perlmutter now out of the picture at Marvel Studios, that may have changed. The question is – does Disney/Marvel/Sony even see Goddard’s Sinister Six (which apparently was set-up to be a loveletter to Tom Hardy signed by Goddard and Amy Pascal) as a viable project? Or does Disney/Marvel/Sony consider it to be yesterday’s news and part of the past?

Another problem is that almost none of the Sinisters have a sympathetic side. The only exception might be Sandman. Very few people want to spend two hours with horrible people doing horrible things. Take a lesson from the classic movie, “The Dirty Dozen.” That dozen wasn’t all that super-dirty, except for the Telly Savalas character. They were misfits who had poor self-control, committed crimes, and ended up in the stockade. For example, the Charles Bronson character was a good sergeant who shot a deserter because he was running off with all the unit’s medical supplies. You could root for the Dirty Dozen, mostly. There’s no one to root for among the Sinister 6.
Just because he wants one does not mean that we want one:)

So this plan he’s still clinging to is to take an idea that has to stand outside continuity, and place it in the Marvel Cinematic U, a series that gets most of its continued success primarily from being heavily continuity driven……..

Well I still want a married Peter Parker. Doesn’t mean I’m going to get it. Them’s the breaks.

If I was Feige I’d want to save my villains to, you know…fight the hero. There has never been any version of the Sinister Six in canon who were government outlaws or whatever. They’ve literally only ever existed as back up for Doc Ock to kill Spider-Man. Spider-Man fighting them would be awesome. Them as the stars would not be.
