Top grossing Marvel movie characters-Paid Advertisement
Movies based on comic books are very popular in Hollywood, with roughly
three films based on these characters released each year. There is no
question that Marvel is the biggest hitter, and most of the adaptations of their
characters are successful, with these are the five top grossing ones.
This epic put together most of the big characters from the Marvel universe –
including Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and Black Widow,
played by stars Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo, Chris
Evans and Scarlett Johansson – with direction and script by Joss Whedon –
ensuring geek heaven.
Iron Man 3 – $1.21 billion
All three of the movies with Downey Jr as Iron Man Tony Stark have been
huge, but the third installment was the biggest yet. It hit number one at the box
office around the world, breaking records in the Far East. It also featured
Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) and Guy Pearce, but as yet, Downey has not
signed for a fourth film.
Iron Man 2 – $623.9 million
Each Iron Man film has been that bit more successful than the one before –
with this one making a mere $623.9 million worldwide. Alongside Downey Jr
and Paltrow, part 2 also had Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson, and
reached number at the box office across the world – with the UK and Korea
producing the highest gross.
Iron Man – $585.2 million
The movie that launched the monumental Iron Man franchise, this one
featured Jeff Bridges alongside Downey Jr and Paltrow, and became the first
movie ever to gross more than $300 million at the US box office – as well as
topping the charts around the globe.
X-Men: The Last Stand – $457.1 million
X-Men is another hugely successful Marvel franchise, starring Sir Ian
McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and Famke Janssen as the mutant
characters. X-Men: The Last Stand proved the box office victor, hitting the top
of the box office in 26 different countries.
The Marvel boom seems certain to continue, its merchandising sales are
already through the roof! Not only are collectibles popular but there is also a
range of mobile casino games related to Marvel. It is hard to imagine any films
beating the box office returns of the ones produced by this company.
It’s doubtful that any previously established MCU characters would appear in one of his solo films, but joining the universe would allow the Spider-Man movies to bring in Marvel characters that haven’t been seen on-screen yet. The obvious candidate would be Jessica Drew, a.k.
And when I think of it… where’s Captain America: Winter Soldier? And every Spider-Man movie has made more than X-Men: The Last Stand, which in turn isn’t even the biggest X-Men-movie…
So, why aren’t Avengers: Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy on that list?
