1. @#29- Has it been confirmed that Slott’s last story will be the Secret Wars tie in story?

   Because, believe me, I’d LOVE for Slott’s last story to be Renew Your Vows. It’s just after the finale of Spider-Verse, it’s more likely that Slott will stay on the books past September.

2. @32 – It’s back when Norman was back-from-the-dead and had convinced everyone he wasn’t the Goblin and had bought the Bugle. It’s a great one-and-done issue. I think the Gathering of Five starts right after so that’s the only downside.

3. @27- Peter Parker and Norman Osbourne trapped in an elevator together….
   Now you got me wanting, to read that issue.

   I just want to buy this just for the art.

4. They have to make Spidey a badass again, like they did in the 80’s. He’s not a rookie, he’s not 15 years old, he is one of the most experienced fighters in the MU. If we should count how many fights ha Spider-man been through, I think it’s a lot more tha any othe superhero’s body-count. 😀 I hate the ‘modern’ version (or slott version) of him, he just comes through as weak. Remember the 70-80’s??? Or even the JMS run…when Spider-man defeated Morlun by himself, and didn’t behave as a pussy. 😀 I hate things like Luke Cage barking orders to Spidey, like he was superior to him and shit like that… btw, they had a fistfight after Norman’s death (70’s), and Luke couldn’t beat Peter…at all. It would be nice if Spider-man had his own Avanger team (much like New Avengers…roste culd be Daredevil, Iron Fist, Spider-woman (not Silk!!!!), the Prowler (is he alive???), Wisp o’ the Will (former Spidey willain/ally), Deadpool (the two have wonderful chemistry), Wolverine (bring him back, goddamit), and don’t forget Iceman and Firestar. 😀 😀 It culd work…Spider-man as a team leader.

5. I liked a lot of Mackie’s run. Also he had a great, great run and brought back Ghost Rider in the 1990s. That book was white hot.
   Mackie’s legend was tarnished with the 1999 reboot. He was worn out towards the end of the 1990’s and really burned out quick writing two Spider-titles.

7. That art just got me sold the instant I took a close look at it; I’m with @25- PeterParkerFan on this one. And Conway writing is another must, so that means getting my hands on this issue is my top priority, along with Spider-Gwen as a close second. This looks great, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint us after the Slott-tastrophe that was Spider-Verse. And with Conway and Carlro’s team-up here, I doubt it will.

8. @26 – Mackie gave us Joey Z. Every listener of the podcast should be eternally grateful to him for that.

   As for an example of how great his PPSM run could be, read issue #95 with Peter and Norman trapped in an elevator together. Just full of awesomeness.

    @#16, Peter Parker is lame in recent issues because Slott is making him seem like an idiot in favor of characters like Silk and Inferior Spider-Ock.

So a genuinely exciting sounding spidey story written by a writer who I consider of the best to helm the character and will not include any or all of the following 1.silk 2.carlie cooper and 3.spock and you’re really asking if I’m getting this? I plan to honestly buy 3 copies of each chapter. And after enjoying it quietly sob while I look at the point following the numbering.

14. @18 – I’ll have to check it out at some point, sounds good.

    @19 – I’m sure Conway is a competent enough writer to conform to the current status quo and still tell a good story. Yeah it does recall the Gang War, but I’d rather take that over another revision of Spider-Man’s origins or a story set during his teenage years.

15. At this point I would accept a carbon copy of a story already told in the 80s.

16. Normally, I’d say getting Conway to scribe Spidey again was an aces move…Except this is Gerry, who, by the way is(was?) a strong MJPete cheerleader, operating within the severe restrictive handcuffs of the alternate universe the wallcrawler has been in since OMD.

    Doesn’t the synopsis & accompanying imagery for Spiral come off as 1987’s Gang War storyline from ASM all over again?!?

17. @13 – I’ve never read that mini, it’s on my bucket list of minis to buy. If you listen to the episodes after OMD/BND where the hosts -er- host and panelists are talking about which writer they want to write Amazing, the consensus seems to be Dan Slott based on the excellence of that mini.

18. As bad as some of the previous runs were, most of the time I felt that Peter was being written in character. I haven’t felt that way since … (strokes chin, hears “Dreamweaver” playing)

    The worst part is that I’m not feeling anger or hatred to Slott’s stories, it’s ambivalence. I buy the issues, but they sit on my dresser and there’s no drive, no rush to read them to find out what happens.

    Even if it’s just a 5-part story, I’m genuinely excited to read (a) a multi-part story written by any other writer, and (b) a multi-part story written by Conway, someone who wrote some excellent issues during his previous runs.

21. @#10-Mackie honestly wasn’t that bad until you got to the Reboot era when Byrne, burnout and health problems conspired against him.

22. It’d be great if he did prove us right, but I think I’m at the point where I just want him off ASM more than anything else. Ive never actually read the Spidey/Human Torch mini, is really as great as everyone says it is?

23. Mackie had a really good run in PPtSSM with JRJR, he can write really great Spidey/Peter Parker stories. And even John (Gathering of Five, Chapter One) Byrne can be a great writer. But I no longer have faith in Slott to write a good Spidey story. For me, it’s gone over the tipping point and now I think that any good Spidey stories he’s written in the past were the aberrations (with the Spidey/Human Torch mini being considered a one in a thousand fluke). I’d love to be proven wrong, but after being hit over the head with bad story after bad story, I have to feel that the few good stories he’s given me are just an example of the broken clock being right twice a day rule.

    Mr. Slott, please make me eat my words.

25. At least with Howard Mackie Peter managed to be the main character in his own book. That’s preferable to what we have now.

33. Looks good, I’ve been craving more street level stories lately. Not crazy about the Wraith seemingly being a big focus as she’s never interested me.

34. I removed Spider-Man from my pull list after the deplorable ASM #700. For the first time since then I will definitely spend my money on a Spider-Man story by a real writer. Can’t wait for the point one issues.
