Just seen this. R.I.P. Doc Ock and Alfred
Helpful details. Blessed myself I ran across your web site by chance, and I’m amazed the reason why the following accident would not happened upfront! My partner and i bookmarked this.
Loved EZ Jr. as Alfred on the old Batman TAS. I didn’t realize he was also the voice of Doc Ock. Very sad to hear he passed away. For me, he was so much the definitive voice of Alfred, it’s like Alfred has passed away as well.
BTW, when the heck are they ever going to release that 90’s Spider-Man toon on DVD and/or BluRay already??? What’s the hold up?
The man for me was the definitive voices for Doctor Octopus and Alfred. R.I.P. Efrem Zimbalist Jr.
How depressing 🙁 He was and still is my favourite Alfred overall, just as Conroy is still my favourite Batman, and Hamill is my favourite Joker. I loved him as Dr. Octopus as well, the choice of accent was quite unconventional, but it worked extremely well somehow, I still imagine his voice when I read the comics.
I loved Mr. Zimbalist Jr. as the voice of Doctor Octopus and also as the voice of Alfred on “Batman: T.A.S.”. The writing for Doc Ock may not have been as good from seasons three to five of “Spider-Man: T.A.S.” (at least in my opinion), but I always thought he always did a great job as the voice of Doc Ock. He will be missed. 🙁
So sad; with all due respect to Peter MacNicol, Zimbalist was my favorite voice for Doctor Octopus and still the one I imagine when reading his appearances in the comics.
Crap. That was MY Doctor Octopus! RIP
To me he’ll always be the mentor and (SPOILER) father of Remington Steele. But yes, he was a great Doc Ock. It always felt like his Ock was a Shakespearean actor who was also a scientist. Very dignified.
