SM3 > ASM2 ??……
That’s 10 kinds of wrong.
@11 – Yeah, Spider-Man 3 was pretty popular fans of the Raimi trilogy. I remember when I saw it in the cinema the rest of the audience was loving it, they clapped at the end and everything.
Crazy!??!
ASM2
ASM
SM2
SM
SM3
Eh, this was way better than the first movie. Not sure why it’s getting lower than that one. Also, more people like Spider-Man 3 than the internet realizes, so the rankings don’t surprise me.
Yeah, there’s no possible way it should be lower than Spider-Man 3.
I liked this one quite a lot. It easily ranks right up there with the Raimi films…just as good as Spider-Man 2, IMO.
1) Spider-Man 2 (2004)
2)Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
3) Spider-Man (2002)
4) Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
5) Spider-Man 3 (2007)
The Tomatometer scale here is not really comparable. Half the ASM2 reviews compare it with SM2 and come up rotten only because of the comparison. I would probably rank SM2 at the top as well (the first half hour is fantastic!), but 10 years from now I’d rather rewatch the ASMs simply because they are more fun (and the visual effects in ASM2 was … Amazing). Also, SM2 was far from perfect overall. Gwen Stacy has ten times the character that MJ had, and not because of the acting but the screenplays.
It feels like nowadays people have become much more critical. I cannot imagine SM2 getting 94% on Rotten Tomatoes today.
I don’t have a ranking. But I think I it’s a toss up between ASM1 or SM2 for which movies I enjoy the most. Those two are basically what I’d call perfect film adaptations of Spider-Man. Though they both have problems obviously.
The Raimi films were plagued with horrible casting choices and had near unbearable levels of camp humour at times, but the first two had very nice focused plots that were very reminiscent of Stan Lee’s original run.
Ironically the Webb movies have spot on casting (nearly every role has been cast well imo), but the script for ASM2 is a complete mess and focuses too much on needless fan service (Felicia Hardy’s role was a waste). Good scenes were cut from the theatrical version of ASM1, most notably scenes that focused on Connors human side and made him a more balanced character.
I LOVED SM 2 when it first came out, but that faded on repeated viewings. The constant Parker Luck was overdone and there is no way a powerless Peter would just turn the other way when someone was assaulted. This is a guy who fought the Scorpion without powers!
Did…..Did I watch the same movie as everyone else?! SM3 has a higher rating than ASM2?!?!
Having SM2 on the bottom of your list is pure lunacy!
I think ASM 2 has more problems than any previous movie. But is also gets some things right that nonedof the others have.
My list would be –
SM2
SM1
ASM2
SM3
ASM1
For me it would be
ASM 2
ASM 1
SM 1
SM 3
SM 2
so what do I know?
@#1 Not if it makes money.
Dang. Thought the film would get middling reviews, similar to Spider-Man 3 and probably end up ranking a little bit higher. Did not expect the percentage to be that low. The film will still make a ton of money but I wonder if this affects Sony’s plans for the future of the franchise?
