  1. His “milk the character” comment sailed right over my head. Normally we groan at his puns but I think my mind might be blocking them out now in self defense.

In all seriousness though Brad’s probably the best pun man I’ve ever met.

  2. (Talking about Bova) “They’re just trying to milk the character for all its worth.”

    Oh Brad.

  3. I wasn’t happy about the entire thing with not using the time displaced Namorita. It seems that Marvel editorial doesn’t want to have anything to do with the last Nova series. As for the Ultimate Universe, I agree with Adam. They can tell stories that can’t be told in the main 616. I just believe they have gone to the point where they want to kill off characters just to kill off characters and leave them dead. The new FF does sound very interesting. However, All-New Ultimates and Miles Morales keep my interest in those books.

  4. Great podcast guys, but I have to respectfully disagree…

…The Ultimate universe is awesome 🙂

I think if you took Miles away from the Ultimate universe it would change his character too much. The sole survivor of a doomed universe would be too dark and gloomy. There is no fun in that character. One of Miles’ strengths is his supporting cast and how they all interact.

I like that the Ultimate universe keeps changing. The 616 is stuck in a pattern. Speedball becomes Penance becomes Speedball. In the ultimate universe when a character dies, say Spider-Man or Wolverine they’re dead. Time moves on and we see how the world changes. Ultimatum was terrible, but at least it’s not forgotten it still has an impact. Civil War was great, but for the most part has been retconned.

I think it has lost it’s original mission statement, to tell old stories in new ways, but I like its new mission statement to tell stories that can never be told in the main universe, like Tony Stark in the FF.

The rumour is Marvel are killing Logan in 2014, and he’ll be back in 2015. Ultimate Logan, he’s dead and it matters.

Hope you don’t mind my butting in, but I thought a counter point could be made.
